Arcade Brewing's Grapefruit IPA is a great example, Pipeworks consistently churns out stellar DIPAs, but Revolution's Unsessionable last year was outstanding. I called it the 'canned DIPA the Midwest didn't know it needed'.
I think it should achieve legendary/cult status.

I thought Unsessionable was outstanding as well.

Unsessionable from Revolution is world-class. So is Dreadnaught. If you expand your filter to APA's, you open the door to Zombie Dust, Daisy Cutter, Permanent Funeral, etc etc etc. The hoptitude in the greater Chicago market is most excellent.

Temperance Gatecrasher. It's Evanston but I say that's close enough to count

Galactic Double Daisy Cutter from Half Acre is one of my favorite beers ever. And every hoppy beer I've had from Revolution is fantastic as well. I'd take cans of Anti-Hero the rest of my life and be happy, and UnSessionable is about as good an IIPA as you'll find.

Whenever I am able to get some Pliny I will definitely be willing to trade and send it to the Chicago area. I think there are a few people out there that would like to try it or something.

Permanent Funeral is most certainly not an APA, but is one of the best DIPA's I've ever had.
