Best Liquor Store Finds

I missed the shipment of hopslam at my normal store and me and my roommate were going all over town looking for it. We finally gave up, and thought we would have to wait till next year. Until one night him and a buddy went into some cheap little run down store and in some little back dumpy ass freezer was 2 six packs of hopslam. Talk about a nice surprise.We then also found it at a local pizza place. We have been there multiple times to get one for lunch, and will continue to until its gone.

 

Awesome story... went into a somewhat local liquor store to grab some founders breakfast stout (was in a strange stout mood all day) decided to ask the clerk if by any chance he knew if they would be getting any KBS in. He told me they got one case shipped to them and they had a huge waiting list... Was a little disappointed but chatted with him for a while longer then as im about to leave hes calls me back and says screw it ill sell you one.... gotta love those random surprises

 

I go by appearance.

 

I used to find all types of ill shit, mostly dusty cantillon.

 

Just last week in one of the Detroit suburbs there were a couple of 2009 Matilda's sitting on the shelf with a thick layer of dust on them. I didn't buy them due to uncertainty over whether or not they were still any good. I imagine they're still there.

If anyone in SE Mich. is interested in them, send me a BM and I can tell you where they're at. I have no intention of going to buy them.

 

There's always great wine and liquor specials at my liquor store.

 

Up until last month, I wouldn’t have had much of a story to post under this topic. I walked into a liquor store on a Friday night and found multiple bottles of BCBCS and King Henry.

 

Beer Geek Brunch Weasel (x4)
A 4-pack of 2009 GI Bourbon County Brand Stout [found in May of 2011, no less]
Some Victory Wild Devil from 2009 [found in late 2011]
DFH Palo Santo Marron [months after DFH pulled out of Indiana]
A dozen bottles or so of the FFF/DFH collaboration: Poppaskull

Now that I think about it...how rare is Beer Geek Brunch Weasel, really? It was great, but I don't know if I want to grab any more bottles for, say, trading potential. I know it's no whale, but I've only seen it once.

 

It's not at all rare in Chicago. It has been sitting on the shelves for months here. I wouldn't bother with stocking-up on it for trades if I were you - especially considering the price tag!

Thanks, that's what I thought. Beer Geek Brunch Weasel is good, but ~$14 a bottle is a little much; I don't think I'd buy it again unless someone else really wanted it.

Found cans of Ten Fidy circa September 2009. Of course I bought a 4-pack.

 

Found a case of 120 the other week. Yup bought it and split it with a buddy. We need to buy cases in Philly so not much to happen upon with stray beers.

walked into a random liquor store that usually only sells bmc stuff and found eleven bottles of king henry on the shelf two months after they were stocked. the owner said at first there was a limit per customer because he was told it would be more in demand than bcbs, but after only selling one bottle in two months he put them all out on the shelf for whoever. yes i bought them all, and no i dont have any left to trade.
