Best Liquor Store Finds

Last summer, I walked into a store where the owner keeps prized bottles on a shelf behind the counter for all to see. I convinced the attendant to sell me the bottle of BCBS Rare off of the wall. I just told him that I had never tried it and that I had been driving all over town looking for some - both of which were true.

 

I don't have a liquor store find but last night I was out for my birthday and a local bar had bottles of founders cbs for 25! I bought a bottle and it was one of the best birthday surprises ever!

 

(5) Goose Island Bourbon County Bramble Rye

Stopped into a liquor store in Indiana while visiting family and to my surprise, 5 Brambles are just sitting there on the shelf. Snatched them all up; an amazing find since I do not know when they last released it.

 

What? Where in SoCal? It is EVERYWHERE in San Diego.

 

I walked into small store on a random weekend hunt and found about 15 4-packs of 120 Minute for $37.99 , a good price considering most places sold bottles as singles for 9.99 plus. If only I actually liked 120 Minute....

 

I stopped in at one of my usual go-to liqour stores the other day just to browse their selection. I asked one of the workers about some of the beers, and he said "oh you are into fancy beers?" I replied "yes, I guess so." He told me to follow him over to the tasting station (where I thought they were only tasting ciders), and said "well, here is one that someone brought to us from California." Sure enough, they had a bottle of 2011 Black Tuesday opened. The store was relatively empty at this point so lets just say I got a bit more than the average sample . Not a bad find at all!

 

i was in corona, ca yesterday. stopped at a really amazing bottle shop called El Cerrito. It looks like a your typical liquor store with budweiser and bud light signs outside, but man so much good craft beer. I told him im from bakersfield and he went to the back and produced a single Hopslam, i was happy, never had one.

Just walked into my local rundown liquor store, They had 3 cases of Parabola

 

Last August found 4 bottles of 3 Fonteinen's Schaerbeeks Kriek from 2005 for $20 a pop. Solid.

Could you taste the "rarity"???

 

I could taste the store clerk being unsure about if he should sell the nicest bottle on the owner's trophy wall.

Was in Chicago for a conference last July and went into a shitty corner liquor store and found 4 bombers of 09 BCBS sitting in the fridge. We literally laughed out loud.

 

4 bottles of Consecration for $7 each - Wagonwheel Liquors, Durango (I even asked if they were sure they were priced right.)

 

One random bomber of BCBCS in st louis this weekend. No price display, no others in sight. I made off with it.
