Can't argue with the list even though I haven't had 2 of the beers.

The bottom 5 I have to disagree with, but then again, I'm sure they are scraping for local ipas to fit, but the top 5 looks good.

excluding seasonals makes this list pretty weak.

I love me some Masala Mama. But after spending a bunch of time recently out in San Diego, I have to wish that the West Coast would just give up on brewing stouts & porters, & the Midwest should quit trying to make IPAs.

Please let Toppling Goliath, Surly, Three Floyd's, Bell's, Founders and everyone else know. I guess it was a good run while it lasted.

I agree, poor choices for the bottom five. Would have liked to see Bent Paddle Hop Golden and Harriet West Side on there at least. They could have replaced Haymaker and Moar with those, because IMO those to are down right awful.

I clicked through the article three times looking for Let It Ride before realizing that they included accessible in the criteria.

I know I'm swimming against a strong current with this, but I really don't like Furious. I call it Omar's Hard Limeade. (in case you can't tell from that... way too much citrus and pine for me.) I realize this is what Surly was going for; I just don't like it. Obviously, a lot of people disagree with my take on Furious.

Well, you clearly are an idiot.

Ok, you're not. I'm reasonable to know a lot of people don't like it, or do like it but think it's overrated. That's fine. I don't like Daytripper. We all have our likes. We don't have to get all fanboy on it. I mean, we all agree that Saga is the best IPA really though, especially for the price.

Lessee, by my count that's PsuedoSue (TGs only world-class IPA), Furious, Overrated, Abrasive, maybe Two-Hearted, Zombie Dust...& then a bunch of good-not-great IPAs by Founders & Bell's, & lots of IIPA crap from 3 Floyds.

So that's seven world-class IPAs (those plus Masala Mama, I'm sure I forgot one of two others) for five states, & yes, I'm including Wisconsin, which doesn't have any. I might have had more than that in little Carlsbad, CA, let alone San Diego, in the four weeks I was out there.

Sorry for the rational response, but homers gonna homer.

I don't think telling a whole region to completely stop brewing a style of beer is a rational response. Is "reverse homerism" a term yet?

Do you think City Pages writes these articles just to come to the Midwest forum and watch us get all riled up?

Sounds like Guiness Syndrome. Beer always tastes better when one is on vacation or far from home. And Sue is my least favorite TG IPA. I'd take Zealander and Gold Nugget over it anyday.

Close. Actually, I'm pretty sure it had something to do with getting almost everything straight off the tap, from the source at a taproom. And I'd take Sue over anything else hoppy from TG every day of the year, & the year after. So I'll split a TG flight with you anytime.

Ha! Sounds good to me man. When it comes to IPA the West Coast kills it, though I dig plenty of our locals. And Sága, Sága in the darkness binds them.
