    All,

I've done some research on this in the BA forum history and I've seen similar posts....but I haven't seen the answer to this specific question. I was curious as to what bottle shops anyone would recommend in the greater MSP area to find Surly Abrasive. I'm going to be in the area from Boston next week and I was hoping to grab a few cans. I assume the cans can't be purchased at the brewery - is that correct?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    - Mark

You are correct that you can't purchase at the brewery. What part of the Metro will you be in?

I will be staying in the Bloomington/Edina area on Monday night....15 or so minutes from downtown. I'm willing to travel wherever I need to for this! :-)

I'll also be in St. Cloud Tuesday night, which I know isn't that close to the Twin Cities!

France 44 in Edina will be a nice, close, option for you.

There's a ton of stores that you could hit. Blue Max is relatively close, as is France 44. Any of the other top rated stores are easy enough to get to. I don't know of other stores right near there but you can find some. Abrasive is all over.

Do you have a car? Taxi? Bus? Light rail?

Zipps in South Minneapolis usually gets a ton of the stuff and is close to where you'll be. Also, the Surly taproom should be putting Abrasive on before the end of this week.

You will be able to find plenty. Any of the Minneapolis stores are easy to hit if you can't find it by where you're staying. I recommend South Lyndale in Minneapolis, plus you could probably find it on your way to St. Cloud (others could speak to specifics on your way up there).

I have the same question. I'll be over near 3M center (Woodbury area) for work training this next Sun-Wed. Any recommendations for a good bottle shop? Any recommendations for a bar or restaurant that might be offering some Surly on tap (hoping for darkness, but won't expect it)? Thanks.

If you have a car I imagine you'll be able to find darkness on tap with out too much difficulty. Not too sure about shops right there but chances are the closest one to you will have Abrasive available.
If you check the on tap in the twin cities thread people are pretty good at updating that.

Thanks. We'll have a car, but I'll be with a few coworkers who don't share the same enthusiasm for beer as I do. I figured my best bet was to recommend a bar or restaurant that had decent food with a good tap list. If we end up having more free time than I am expecting than I'll just take the car out myself.

Happy Gnome and Muddy Pig in St. Paul are about a 10 minute drive and well worth it -- both have some of the best tap lists in the Metro and the Happy Gnome in particular has fantastic food.

For bottle shops, MGM Liquor Warehouse is very close to 3M at I-94 and White Bear Avenue and should have Abrasive. Heritage Liquors in Maplewood is a little further but has a top-notch beer selection.

In the immediate area, either Lakes Tavern or Sunsets might be worth a look, but the other suggestions above are all on the proper trolley.
