I was reading the Star Tribune today and there was article about some of the new breweries that have opened in the past few months and others set to open in the near future. I'm still pretty new to the craft beer scene, so I'm looking to find out what is worth my money. I've had 3rd Street and Steel Toe. New breweries seem to be popping up everywhere, so I'm probably not the only one who would appreciate some guidance. So what are some recommendations? Thanks and here's the article.

Indeed is at the top in my book.

Steel Toe all the way. A world class brewery run by a seasoned world class brewer. Too bad they are not included in the recent press, they snuck in quietly and started kicking ass immediately.

Harriet Brewing is the best new brewery to open in the TC area in the past couple years in my opinion. Their tap room has a really nice communal feel to it with art work all over the place, great music (either live or vinyl), and a different food truck every day. Northbound should also be on your list of places to try. They have only been open for a couple week so I've only been there once, but it was a really nice experience.

I love Harriet's beers. But most of the ones I've had have a very distinctive flavor, that I think fits better with some styles than others. Maybe the yeast strain they use? I love their hefe, and really dig some of the others.

As for the best in the cities, I'll throw another vote in the Steel Toe corner. Harriet is my local brewery, and I support them more than any other, but I think ST's beers are better across the board. Haven't had anything from Indeed yet, so can't comment on them.

So many new places it's hard to keep up. Despite drinking local beers a lot, I've yet to try anything from Northbound, Badger Hill, Big Wood, Indeed, Boom Island, Pour Decisions, Excelsior, or Staples Mill (though I'm not really tempted by that last one).

I would recommend trying Indeed, their tap room is great and their beers are too.

    That
Harriet is number 2 in my book of new breweries. Solid all the way. Anyone who can nail those fickle German and Belgian styles with that kind of balance and fidelity deserves major kudos.
Excited to try the Marzen, I loved the Sol Bock and I am usually not a fan of either Marzens or Maibocks.

I really like Day Tripper (will be a go to fridge beer once they release cans) and I like Midnight Ryder, but the Fresh Hop was a bit astringent for me and lacked aroma. Anyone else experience this? I have high hopes for them, but I need to try a few more releases before I form a full opinion.

I was super disappointed with indeed. I didn't feel like any of their beers were very memorable (Just my opinion), although the pub was a comfortable place to hang out
