There are some puzzling regional placements - Funk and East Branch are in the Philly category, Collusion Tap, Ever Grain, and St. Boniface in Eastern, but yet Hidden River is in Central. Neshaminy Creek is closer to the city limits than many in the Philly category but is in the East instead.

I also question some of the high seeding - Seprarist (formely Sole) as a #1 seed? Levante as a #3? And some of the low seeding - Stickman as a #15?

And some odd choices of including some brand new places like Ten7, Bald Birds, Well Crafted, Imprint, etc. yet leaving off craft pioneers like Sly Fox, Stoudts, Lancaster, etc. No 2SP despite all the GABF medals?

That Breweriesinpa site is something else. I always wandered if they ever get tired of pandering to Yale Terrace tier PA mediocrity.

Selin's Grove is an easy upset over 1 seed Victory. Don't get me wrong, Victory deserves to be a #1 seed, but still.

From what I've been reading, YTB is not mediocre, it's in a class all by itself.

Have not looked at the list yet, but leaving off those mentioned is borderline criminal.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but they seeded the breweries last year based on untappd checkins. I didn't agree with it, but it is fair.

Yeah, they now have a FAQ with this explanation:
As someone that doesn't use Untappd, I think that is lame, but whatever. I would guess the average Untappd user is probably younger and more likely to be a ticker or chase limited beers, so that may account for the skew away from some of the older established breweries.

Seeing them show up on social media, I always assumed it was a trade group, but I guess now that I read their website it's just a privately run thing. So if you're in business to create content to promote breweries, you're not going to turn anyone down.

I don't think I've ever had any beer at any PA brewery that was as poorly brewed as what is described from Yale Terrace (unintentionally soured, missed gravity, flat, etc).

That being said, there are plenty of small places that are basically just set up to be the brewpub version of a local neighborhood bar. Different clientele and business model from breweries trying to distribute or sell cans.

To jmdrpi: we're glad that after getting yourself worked up that you read more of our site and what was going on with the bracket to better understand the content you were consuming,

Is anyone here really "worked up?" He or she described (what they thought were) choices as "puzzling" and "odd." That's hardly the language of someone foaming at the mouth.

Weird choice to take such a defensive stance towards someone giving your small operation some free publicity, especially when they quickly corrected themselves.

Not getting worked up. Simply responding.

The 9 page views this thread has given the bracket has been appreciated though.

The old, “I’m not worked up, I just needed to create an account to make this reply,” response. Very effective.

I didn't say you were worked up. I'm sorry you misunderstood. I thought it was clear that I was referring to you talking about the original poster getting worked up lol.

Edit: Yeah I just re-read the thread and I have no clue how this was lost on you. Maybe you need a FAQ?

Pro tip- if you use the reply function, it comes off as less passive-aggressive.

As others have said, I don't think my initial posts were unreasonable or overly negative. I saw the voting posted on FB by a local brewery, thought it might spark some discussion/debate here on BA, and posted my thoughts. Isn't that the point of you putting together the bracket?

My brain conflated your site with Brewers of PA, which I am sure was your angle in choosing your name. So I thought it was from the trade group, but good to know you're just a thin-skinned blogger that wants to be a "social media influencer" or whatever.

You clearly haven't seen our social media pages if you think this thread would make us thin skinned

So the voters agreed with me. Separatist lost to the #16 seed, and Stickman pulled the 15 over 2 upset.

ohhh boy, so I was going to wait till the end of this whole thing and then send you a private message, but seeing how (predictably) rude you're being to folks in a public forum, why not just put it out here.

Stickman has repeatedly told you not to use our name in these kinds of competitions and polls and a million other things without our permission. Based on the recent addition to your FAQ, I'm assuming several other breweries have expressed the same sentiment. Based on private conversations I've had with other brewers, there's not a whole lot of brewers with super positive feelings about how you guys conduct yourself, at least not in our area, which is where you're based and people are interacting with you regularly. nobody's "dictating your content", nobody's afraid of some baseless internet competition designed to get your website more traffic. we just don't want to deal with it, or have our followers engage in senseless trash talk about colleagues we have to interact with every day. you're not reporting on government corruption for the times, your "journalistic privilege" doesn't extend to using other people's businesses to nakedly promote your own brand. Next year, please leave us off this. and so long as you're going to publicly speak to followers and customers you're supposedly informing like a 12 year old internet troll, you can leave us out of your content all together.

Being able to vote as many times as you want is kind of killing any value this bracket has. There's one matchup currently that clearly displays this. And I don't really care about either of the 2 breweries before I get called out about it.
