Odells Cutthroat Porter if I want more English styled and Deschutes Black Butte Porter if I want a more American styled.

Honorable mention to Grimm Brothers Master Thief for English/German styled, Equinox's Truffle Shuffle for American styled.

If you are near the WI/IL border, Revolution's Eugene porter is excellent (as are many of the variants, looking at you bean jean) but the eugene is easily had in six pack cans. Also, Upland just started distributing to IL and their Bad Elmer's porter is decent.

The devil made me do it (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/784/35201) Agreed this is a very good porter.

Another vote for Great Lakes Eddy Fitz with a shout-out to Sierra Nevada's Porter.... another sneaky solid porter.

Founders was always my go-to porter, but that might change after I recently had Smuttynose Robust Porter.

I agree with Founders, GL Edmund Fitzgerald, Victory at Sea, Samuel Smith Taddy Porter, and Odell Cutthroat. I would also add Alaskan Smoked Porter, and Summit Great Northern Porter.

Momi Hiwa was one of the best porters I have ever tried. Probably will be difficult to track some down though. Amuste was also fantastic.

The most criminally underrated porter is Ballast Point's Black Marlin. I find it exceptionally good. Their Victory at Sea gets all the love, and it's delicious, but it's too big to compare to standard porters IMO. When I want porter, I think of Black Marlin before V@S.

I don't understand the love for Black Butte. I had it once on tap, and wonder if the bartender slipped me a different porter. Huge disappointment.

I absolutely agree that Everett is tops in the world of porters. And I agree with the nods to Founders, Mayflower, and Samuel Smith. Oh and honorable mention to meantime London porter.

Recently had a blind tasting of Black Butte and Edmund Fitzgerald. I preferred Black Butte.

Founders Porter and Smuttynose Robust are fantastic too.
