Or bike ride beer, or mud race beer, or workout in general beer. What do you like to drink after your workout, and how do you do it?

For example after a run, I like to refuel with some protein and some veggies maybe, and lots of water, but once I'm settled (showered, relaxing, and feeling the effects of the run) I like something hoppy, drinkable, and cold - maybe a Citra Pale Ale or Zombie Dust or SNPA - it just tastes so good (once it hits your lips) after a run. Usually I do two or three (the first two going down so easily and deliciously). Occasionally, after a long run, I'll go for something heavier - Enjoy By maybe or Bigfoot.

I generally don't drink after lifting, as that tends to increase my soreness.

    What's your process?

I don't always drink after a run, but I'm with you that it is damn good. I'm with you that I re-hydrate with water, have a quick protein shake then shower. And then it's something hoppy on my balcony.

If I were to work out, I'd probably just drink water afterwards.

A great APA is definitely my beer of choice post-run/ride

I go for a crisp, lower abv IPA. a lagunitas or stone does the trick for me.

A good 20 oz of water and then an oatmeal stout. Preferably, the Anderson Valley Barney Flats. Some stout with a low abv, for sure.

Maybe it's just me, but there's few things better than a laying down on the couch and drinking a high abv, in-your-face IPA after a long, hard run. Feels great

A hefeweizen is probably as good as any lower ABV beer. Wheat beers tend to have a bit more protein, which may be of benefit.

Just remember: "Milk is for babies. When you grow up, you have to drink beer."

This may seem weird to some of you but post exercise, I enjoy having one of my favorite "refreshing" style beers while taking a shower. Something about the warm water and cold beer is just one of life's guilty pleasures.

I love to do that as well. When I had a lot of Zombie Dust it was the beer I always went to after doing anything active. It's just so damn refreshing. So I liked getting the beer extra cold while taking nice hot shower. Double refreshment at it's finest.

Something easy to down. My local filling station currently has Live Oak Hefe on tap. Stuff is soooo good.

Maybe it's because I'm more of a mountain biker, but nothing beats a Dale's for me.

Stay hydrated; so, yes to H2O. Depending on the length of my burn(workout), determines the beer I drink. Over a hour, I drink what I want. Under an hour, I drink mostly water.

I never drink beer or coffee either before or after running. Both are diuretics and can led to dehydration.

Drink lots of water afterwards. Save the beer for later.

For most of us, running ( or biking ) moderate distances in moderate conditions, water is fine for rehydration. The notion that all need sports drinks (esp. kids playing baseball for example) is a myth. That being said, I'm embarrassed to admit that a nice cold corona tastes great after exercise. It's like flavored water. I usually move onto an IPA/DIPA for my next.

To be fair to the original poster, he's talking about what you like to drink after you've run, showered, rehydrated (with water) and eaten. Maybe, for me, if it's an evening run/workout, I'm thinking what's best with the meal....I actually love a well earned Duvel. Washed down with a couple of pilseners. Warsteiner, Bitburger or any other!. But for a first beer... if you've hit your workout target... most sports scientists would agree.. Duvel.
