'Best pumpkin beer' is like saying 'best STD'.

I am not a fan of pumpkin beers and haven't bothered to try one for years.
However, I feel the need to try a bottle of Schlafly's now that I see the overwhelming acclaim for this beer.

It's not. They made it 2 years in a row, and I think I heard they are making it again this year!

Dogfish Head is the only one I'm buying this year.

I love a good pumpkin beer forum. So my 2 clear winners are Schlafly (surprise, surprise) and Whole Hog (which I will drive to NJ every year to get). Less national but equally notable are two local faves: Horseheads Pumpkin and Brewery at Bacchus' Country Bumpkin--a Berliner Weiss with spiced pumpkin syrup. Not sure if the latter technically counts but it's still so good.

As many have stated above the best pumpkin beers out there are Southern Tier's Pumking and Dogfish Head's Punkin. A local favorite of mine is Flying Dog's The Fear.

St. Arnold Pumpkinator. They also threw it some in rum and bourbon barrels, and now I know what true love really is...

Oscar Blues does a Pumpkin Chub which is out of this world. My favorite might be the barrel aged version of Griffin Claw's Screaming Pumpkin. They also do a pumpkin spiced Norm's IPA which was surprisingly good though obviously not a traditional pumpkin beer.

Never had it, but I bought a bottle of Shipyards BBA Smashed Pumpkin that I am looking forward to trying. Just can't bring myself to crack it until at least September.

I'm not a big fan of pumpkin beers in general but probably the best one that I've had is Crown Valley Imperial Pumpkin Smash. It might be the only one that I buy this year.

I'm not a fan of Schlafly pumpkin. It just has too many spices in it for my taste. I can't even taste the beer. For those that like it, it's already out. I saw it in a local store today along with Pumking and a few others.

I do like Pumking although a bottle or two is plenty for me. I like it better after letting it cellar for a few months.

So I got Terrapin' pumpkinfest from a local liquor store. There is no bottled date, but at the end of the label it says seasonal 2013. Did anyone get pumpkinfest and does it have the same label?
