These are top notch when fresh, and easy to find in NJ:

Firestone Walker Union Jack and Double Jack
    Victory Dirtwolf
Neshaminy Creek County Line (no dating, unfortunately)
    Lagunitas Maximus
    Sixpoint Resin
    Uinta Hop Nosh

Not available on the east coast - or else I'd be all over it.

Edit: And Loose Cannon (Heavy Seas, aka Clipper City).

I would have listed Two Hearted and Jai Alai as well, but he'd have to head into NY to get them, unfortunately.

Really? You don't get those out in NJ? :astonished: That sucks.

Re: driving to NY - guess it depends on where you are in Jersey, too - for some, no big deal; for others, quite the drive, eh? lol :stuck_out_tongue:

Good suggestions so far. Not entirely sure what you can get in your area, but these are my favorite readily available IPAs..

    Founders Centennial
    Bell's Two Hearted
    Bell's Hopslam
    Sixpoint Bengali
    Sixpoint Resin
    Sierra Nevada Torpedo
    Sierra Nevada Hop Hunter
    Victory Dirt Wolf
Stone Enjoy By (or any Stone IPA, for that matter)
    Great Lakes Chillwave
    Smuttynose Finestkind
    Revolution Anti-Hero
    Lagunitas Hop Stoppid
    Dogfish Head 60 & 90 Minute
    Deschutes Fresh Squeezed

Three Floyds make some awesome stuff, but I doubt you can find them in NJ. The guys at Firestone Walker produce some great stuff as well, but I can't get it around here. Anyway, hopefully this helps a little!

Yeah- but a few us do work in the city, so that makes it a bit easier . I'm also up by the Rockland County border, so it's like having access to the best of both worlds.

Lately I've been taking advantage of the local draught options coming from the city, and even the occasional bottles like Singlecut. There's lots of great stuff available all of a sudden, and I'm getting my money's worth on that growler these days. Plus, you may as well grab that 4-pack of Two Hearted cans while you're there, ya know...

Smutty Finest Kind fresh and in cans now does it for me. Under $15 a 12 pack to boot as well!

I love Sculpin, but it's just too expensive. I generally stick to Firestone Union Jack or Deschutes Fresh Squeezed. When I'm feeling fancy I jump to Double Jack

There are a bunch of great options. Founders Centennial Bells Two hearted and Anderson valley come to mind right away. But for consistent excellence and value all of Sierra Nevada's ipas have to start the list.

According to Seekabrew.com the following have IPAs that you should at least try (and forgive me if there are ones that others have mentioned before)
3 Beards, Arcadia, Ass Kisser, Ballast point, Bear Republic, Boulder, Butternuts, Cape Ann, Defiant, Dogfish HEad, Firestone, Flying Fish, Founders, Green Flash, Harpoon, Heavy Seas / Clipper City, Hoppin Frog, Ithaca, Lagunitas, Long Trail, Oscar Blues, Otter Creek, Sierra Nevada, Sixpoint, Slumbrew, Smuttynose, Southern tier, Speakseasy, Stone, Troegs, Uinta, Victory, Wachusett, Weyerbacher...
I'm sure there are also others I missed, but somewhere in that list there should be something you should like.

My go-to citrus bomb IPA's here in NJ are Dirt Wolf, Union Jack (and Double Jack), Elysian Space Dust, Stone Enjoy By, Sixpoint Bengali & Resin, Captain Lawrence and as has been mentioned, Sculpin. You shouldn't have any problems finding any of these in NJ. If you really want that citrus slam, they have got to be fresh.

I'd just fight for the Carton 077xx, worth the trouble. I don't know if you buy from the same store most of the time, but doing so is a plus, you might not have to fight so hard for beers you want.
