Visiting Chicago from Mississippi this weekend. I'd like to bring back as many cans as possible of IPA's from the region. Can I get some recs for great IPA's from the region that are available in cans?

I've tried and loved Heyoka, Anti-Hero and Surly Furious. Are there others I'm missing?

Since you mentioned Surly, their Abrasive is about as good as a canned DIPA gets. I prefer it to Heady, actually. Daisy Cutter is a good choice too, and will be much easier to get a hold of. Also unlikey, but Unsessionable from Revolution is friggin' phenomenal. It's been months since it landed, however, so it'll not only be hard to find (use Beer Menus), but I can't speak to how well the hops have held up. But fresh it was certainly one of the best canned DIPAs around.

TL;DR - Look for Abrasive, grab some Daisy Cutter.

Not specific to Chicago area, and I'm not sure about their distribution where you are, but Bell's Two Hearted canned is top notch. The haters can hate but I will take it over most IPAs distributed in Ohio.

From canned IPA's I can get in Cleveland, Ohio, I'm a fan of Jackie O's Mystic Mama & Bell's Two Hearted.

Thanks Sean. What do you mean by "Beer Menus"? (Is there a function that will let me search for inventories of specific beers?)

    www.beermenus.com

You can login and start following places and beers, so that you know when a specific beer you're looking for is in stock, and you'll also know when the places you follow add a new beer. I mentioned it because I saw Unsessionable on there a month or so ago, and hadn't seen it anywhere for a while.

Not every beer place is on beermenus, but it's still better than nothing.

If you're lucky, you'll be able to find some Pipeworks Citra on the shelf. It's one of my favorites.

Also echoing Daisy Cutter and Anti-Hero.

I also would like to toss out there the canned Spiteful IPAs. If you can find Alley Time or Spiteful IPA, get 'em. They are fantastic.

Spiteful IPA and FW's cans have hit Chicago as well.

I'm a big fan of Temperance Gatecrasher. It's an English style, although I'd say quasi-English, as I think some of the hops are American.

Firestone Walker, I reckon. Not quite regional, but definitely worth seeking out if you'll be in Chicago and looking for good canned ipa and you see it.

Another +1 for Bell's Two Hearted, plus if you see it and if you like rye ales, Arcadia's Sky High Rye is very tasty.

Firestone Walker just started canning. Any can you see from them should be very fresh.

Anti Hero, Daisy Cutter, Senita (formerly known as Heyoka), Spiteful, Two Hearted, Founders All Day, Sculpin. New Belgium options.

Surly may or may not be available. They cut back quite a bit in chicago for a while and are literally just getting back to normal now that their new prodiction facility is running.

By the end of this year there will be many more canned chicago options, which is a very good thing.
