I am heading back to LA today but am looking for a good bottleshop to check out in the SD area(PB/Downtown) I have a car so driving isn't an issue. Ive been to "The Best Damn Beer Shop" and i wasn't blown away. Any recommendations?

I think Palm Springs Liquor is the best shop in the county. Go during the day or risk ****/murder.

I'm not a local but I was pretty impressed with Bine and Vine and KnB Wine Cellars (Del Cerro) when I was down there.

If you live in LA what exactly are you looking for? I am guessing 99% of our market is overlapping, therefore most bottle shops are not going to be "impressive".

p.s. my favorite place is Olive Tree Market in Ocean Beach

Basically Alpine Stuff without having to drive up the mountain.

Me too, and I live in San Diego. Make the drive. It's always worth it.

You won't find anything except Captain Stout on the shelves of local shops. It is a cruel joke.

I am walking out the door right now to go up there.

that is what I was guessing you were looking for. Going to Alpine is the only safe bet in getting it. It honestly isn't too far from downtown, 20-30 minutes, depending on how fast you drive.

The drive is nothing. If I lived in SD I'd do it weekly. Cool little place, beer at the source, no back room BS.

Bine and Vine does get a fair amount of Alpine from time to time. Call to check.

What you need to do is be on their Facebook feed, then hop in your car once he says he's got some Alpine. Otherwise, your chances aren't good.

I have to disagree a bit with SanDiego67 - you can often find Alpine Ale, Willy, and Mandarin Nectar in the stores.

If you can't make the extra 20-30 minute drive, then go to bed!

I still think that is the worst brewery motto I have come across thus far.

Went to Best Damn Beer Shop (it was close to where we had breakfast) Bine and Vine, and Palm Springs Liquors, Palm Springs being the best.

Does the brewery sell bottles or draft only?
