Hello beer advocates! I'm going to be moving to San Diego in May for a 6 month clinical assignment, and am trying to get some more info on some of the "must do" brew spots in town. There seems to be a ton of awesome places, and I would love to hit them all if I can. If anyone could help point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated!

Here's the problem OP will have: he'll end up doing a few of the best ones first, and will be so amazed that he'll just go to them over and over again and never work his way that far down the list. LOL

SJ_Perry: do you know roughly what part of town you'll be located, or where your work location will be? Locality is always good, especially for weekday after work visits that might add the traffic factor.

I was just there for two days. Its amazing. I'm very jealous that you get to be there for six months.

The guide posted above is great. Make sure you enjoy the seafood and burritos there as well. In the two days I was there I hit Pizza Port (San Clemente), Port/Lost Abbey, Rip Current, Mother Earth, Stone, Alesmith, Karl Strauss, Belching Beaver, Societe, Council and Ballast Point. Of those, my favorite was Mother Earth. Alesmith and Societe were awesome as well. Well, actually all of them were awesome except Belching Beaver. BB's beers were great, but the dude at the register was a dick to me (whatever), then he was a dick to my wife (Fuck you).

Also, make sure not to overlook Pizza Port, Pizza is tasty and the beer selection is outstanding.

That puts you just a hop away from the south part of the 30th St. Corridor (Hamilton's and South Park Brewing). Go a mile north, and you are in the heart of beer central.

If I were you, I'd try to rent a place in North Park if possible. LOL

Going to second this for convenience to work and basically everything else aside from breweries on the 78 (and some of these have satellite locations in North Park anyways) and Alpine.

Message me when you are closer to getting here. I live in NP and work in the industry. I'd be happy to show you around and drink some beeyaz.

San Diego Brewers Guild has a good list of breweries and bars as well on their website.
