I haven't gotten into this style enough to have a meaningful opinion, but I love me some Dirty Bastard Ale.

I love this style, and Alesmith's Wee Heavy is really the one that got me into it. I have an Alesmith BA Wee Heavy lying around that I haven't tried yet so based on that I would have to go:
    1. Founders Backwoods Bastard
    2. Alesmith Wee Heavy
    3. Founders Dirty Bastard
    4. Scotty Karate
    5. Old Chub
Still holding out to try the CCB Big Sound and BA Big Sound......maybe someday.

Dirty Bastard and Old Chub are definitely head and shoulders above any other Scotch Ales that I have sampled.

Gotta say that I really did not care for Scotty Karate. I think that it tatses like someone tossed a shot of cheap whiskey into a brown ale.

For me: Founders Backwoods Bastard & Dirty Bastard, Oskar Blues Old Chub, and CCB Big Sound.

I buy Old Chub constantly mainly because it's dirt cheap and damn delicious. Loved it on Nitro as well.

Does Real Ale Scots Gone Wild count? It's a sour Wee Heavy (derived from their 'Real Heavy'). One of my favorite local sour beers.

Cambridge Brewing Company's Bannatyne's Scotch Ale. And not just for the intensely local label. It's a beautifully rich and balanced beer, and the 9.2% ABV doesn't burn you.

I have not had too many, but my favorite by far was Pipeworks' Last Kiss. Let that sucker warm up a little bit and holy cow is it delicious...

Rock Art's 90 Schilling Scotch Ale was awesome. Actually everything I had from them the last time I was up there was great, but this Scotch Ale was excellent, and I'm usually not a fan of the caramel malt onslaught of this style. It had a nice woody, almost maple flavor, with a full bodied nose that carried on to the palate. Quite enjoyable even though it was a hot sunny day outside. I should have bought a growler of it.

Belhaven, for sure, it's just too bad you can't get it if you are in Scotland.
    Orkney as well
Is Arcadia Lochdown a wee heavy? I forget.

It was available by cask at the Wotherspoons Beer Festival in 2010 but was a shadow of its former self.

Good beers, especially the 30, 40, and if you can find it, the new, probably limited release, 1991.

And I wished I could still find it as cask Belhaven 90 brewed with the old yeast.

No list would be complete without Tempest Old Parochial Barrel Aged Imperial Scotch Ale and Black Isle Small Batch Export Scotch Ale as great Scottish examples of the style. Both are at least equal to anything brewed internationally. And BrewDog's San Diego Scotch Ale is worth a mention too.
