Great suggestions here. Would also throw out don't overlook fresh Pilsner Urquell when you see it either.

Agree about the carbonation and that stuck out to me too with the last few bottles that I had. Great beer!

Good guess! 31st & Wharton has the Von Trapp account for SEPA. I am not exactly sure how far out they go (e.g., Central PA?).

    Cheers!

This is the part where I'm supposed to bemoan the loss of Stoudts Pils. Instead, I'll have to go with Sly Fox Pikeland Pils.

I’ve been looking at PU dates and saw either late October or November best buy date. Almost bought one.

FWIW that is older than I would be willing to buy. Over the past couple of years I have been lucky to see PU beers in cans that were less than 4 months old a few times. That is a worthwhile purchase for me.

    Cheers!

Isn’t the best by date nine months from bottling/canning with PU? If so that would have put them less than four months old. I’m not certain on the length of their best by dates though to be honest.

    Yes, that is correct.
My mistake here, I misread your post to mean you already did the math and Oct./Nov. was the bottling date. Yeah, buy them!!

    Cheers!

I found 2 bottles of Stoudts Pils at my local store last week and snapped them up. One gone, one to go.

Lazy River Pilsner from New Trail won Gold at GABF last year.

You motivated me to look that up to discover:

    “Category 37: Contemporary American-Style Pilsener - 61 Entries

Gold: Lazy River Pils, New Trail Brewing Co., Williamsport, PA

Silver: Citra Pils, Saint Archer Brewing Co., San Diego, CA

Bronze: Citraveza, Alvarado Street Brewery, Salinas, CA”

I am inexperienced as regards this ‘new’ style of “Contemporary American-Style Pilsener”. Makes me wonder a bit?

    Cheers!

It has recently been put on for crowlers near me, but I am waiting for it to be canned again. Doesn't seem they make it very often.

Really the only difference is the type of hops used.

Usually once or twice a month. Depends on how quickly it sells. Also probably brewing smaller batches then say a hazy ipa which sells in bigger quantities

You sure about that? Canned for distribution?

I have seen it in stores in my area, but it’s been a while.

Positive. At minimum once a month. Yes for distribution. But, wholesalers buy less because Pilsners sell less so the batches are much smaller.

Yeah, I get it but from my personal perspective a beer hopped with American aroma hops (e.g., Citra) is not a Pilsner IMO. That beer would be a low gravity (session) IPL.

    Cheers!

Looks like the last time my local bottle shops saw Lazy River was January 2020.

Let's just call it, a Pilsner with flavor.

Not sure where you are located but tell your bottle shop to tell their wholesaler to buy more ;-) it's always on the shelves around here.
