the Uhaul styro shippers are large enough to fit a bruery bottle with threeish layers of bubble wrap perfectly.

EDIT: Same with the styro shippers from bevmo/total wine

Yeah,I hear you.I like the 14x14x14 better cuz it has space between the two boxes,so I like to throw extra cushion around the inside box......

Of course, this translates to the package being a lil' bigger and a lil' more expensive to ship, but well worth it.

    Cheers

Slight veer off course here, but what do you do for shipping boxes when you're out of town? I'm going to Portland next month, and hoping to ship back 12-24 bottles, depending on what I find there that we don't get in Texas (which is likely a lot). I prefer styro shippers, so do I just hope to find some there? This literally has me up at night worrying. :grimacing:

I used the Uhaul styro shippers for my Bruery RS shipments, and they aren't holding up very well. It could be the fact that we are shipping 12 - 750ml Bruery bottles at once (over 40lbs). My friends and mine both are all busted up after only 2 uses. Cardboard box is in fine shape, but the styro inside is cracked and falling apart.

I wondered about this too bc I wanted to take another trip to Seattle. I figured I'd call the front desk of the hotel, tell them I am staying there on X dates, ask if I could receive a package and if they'd hold it for me until I got there (important business meeting docs). I planned on shipping an empty styro-shipper to the hotel under my name (reg mail, since cheaper and empty) and then grab it at the front desk once I got there. But my Seattle plans fell thru so that is all theory. if this actually works in real life (as opposed to my head), please let me know.

    Good luck.

I trustee for a few BAs and over the past 2 days had 6 of those arrive at my house. They work fine, if anything there is a little too much room. I use a single layer of small bubble wrap or some newspaper to help tighten the fit. These boxes work great and I reuse them for the RS members I trustee for...of course unless FedEx destroys an empty shipper and puts the styro in a new box that doesn't fit properly :slight_frown:

You said it. There is too much room and the bottles move around and damage the styro. You need to add padding (newpaper) so the bottles don't move around.

Do you know if they are the 12 bottle wine shippers or the 12 bottle champagne shippers?

OP I have an edit to make: I meant Uhual not uline. If I had to guess the champagne shippers are what you want from uline. Also, I trustee for someone who recently bought a bunch of these Gorilla shippers. They are nice because they can be stored compact. They take a few more minutes to setup, but nothing bad at all.

just made an edit to my comment. I was thinking uhaul instead of uline. If I had to guess I would guess for Bruery bottles/750ml you want the champagne shipper. You can always add padding but you cannot take away Styrofoam.

Let me guess: the bottoms of the slots are getting blown out? f you want those 12-bottle shippers to survive, you NEED to add additional packing material. Not for the bottles, but to protect the box from the bottles.

Those shippers were designed to accommodate many shapes of 750mL wine bottles, and in the case of the Euro style beer bottles, there's some vertical space, so when the box is moved around the base of the bottle hits the base of the shipper like a hammer.

It's already been mentioned, but you definitely need to add additional packing material. I'll throw some packing peanuts or newspaper in the bottom, slot the bottle in, and then some more newspaper on the top. I also line the outside of my Styro shippers with packing tape to help reinforce everything and keep the styro from bottoming out/cracking along the sides.

I'm of the general opinion that my sytro shippers aren't ready to go out the door until I have to use additional packing tape to keep the top and bottom halves from separating. Doing both of those things also nearly completely eliminates the sound of styrofoam rubbing, which adds some peace of mind.

I've reused a couple boxes that way several times with no significant damage/wear and tear.
