Best small beer city

    probably not the best, but Ann Arbor, MI is a good place (though slightly more than 100K people, something around 120K). I really enjoy Ashley's and Jolly Pumpkin's Cafe. Plus there is Grizzly Peak and Arbor brewing which are good.

    I live near Burlington and love the beer culture here (which is rapidly expanding these days!) but Portland, ME is my second "beer home" because of all the great taprooms and restaurants that feature craft beer: local, imported and especially Belgian styles.

    AA is a little big. You forgot Blue Tractor, and my new go to place, Wolverine State Brewing.

    Ypsilanti has Arbor's Corner Brewery, which has a great vibe. Ypsi has that going for it.

    My favorite beer is only available in VT, and brewed near Burlington. Trappe Golden Helles Lager. So thats a +1 to Burlington for me.

    I didn't even need to check google, I just remembered that there was 200k people in Madison when I lived there a decade ago. I figured if the population had been cut in half since then I would have heard about it. :wink:
