I don't about best, but, it's 10 small breweries. And, yes, my buddies down at Foggy Noggin made it on to the list, so there's that: https://www.thrillist.com/drink/nat...n-america-best-nanobreweries?ref=facebook-869
Calling up to 10 bbl systems nanobreweries is a stretch, but otherwise an above-average Thrillist beer article with good regional representation.
Only heard of one brewery on the list, but now I want to try all 10 of them. Some of the brews sound amazing....
Agree with Spiteful. A friend brought back from Chicago some "Working for the Weekend' IPAs from Spiteful along with Surly Abrasive and all 4 people here in MD who sampled both of those actually preferred WFTW over Abrasive (but everyone liked Abrasive as well). Thought that was interesting considering all the hype for Abrasive.
Awesome to see Foggy Noggin on there. It literally is in the garage but it is a fun spot to visit. Can't wait to visit Prohibition Pig this May too.
Interesting. They have Santa Cruz Mountain Brewery on the list. Based upon their reviews in BA, they have average beer. Also, in threads about beer destinations in the South Bay Area, you never or rarely hear them mentioned. They are going to be at the SN Beer Camp in San Francisco this June. I will check them out at that time, but will be low on the list.
I would put Santa Cruz Mountain Brewery at the very bottom of all of the breweries in the Santa Cruz/Soquel/Aptos area. Although I haven't tried any of the other breweries on this particular list, I am quite surprised to see them listed on ANY list of "best" small breweries (quality control issues seem to abound at this place based on my visits in the past 2 years).
Cuzett Libations here in Brooklyn are great. Good things happen when a beer power couple like Mary Izett and Chris Cuzme work together.
