Not sure why but I love the smell of Kane. I think I could be blindfolded and still know where I was if you put me there. Grains, barrels and hops.

The only brewery I regularly go to is Tröegs. It usually smells like malt and/or mash. That probably has something to do with the brewing that's going on right behind the bar.

If you think a brewery smells great, then just stand next to where they store all their old mash that is to be disposed of.

This is Blasphemy here, but my two all time favorites are Heineken and Tuborg. Fresh bread coating the neighborhoods!

Firestone Walker Barrelworks barrel room smells like heaven! Not really a brewery though

Walking into the refrigerated hop room at the new Ballast Point location...good Lord, every last molecule of air imbued with the smell of hops.

I lived about 4 houses up from the Schlenkerla brewery (top left-hand side of the street in the pic). The smells of beechwood-smoked malt being decoction mashed would waft into our open windows nearly every day. I still miss it....

At Boundary Bay Brewing, the brewing room is connected to the restaurant and bar through a hallway. If you're in there when they are boiling wort, it smells like dank, multi-grain, baked bread.

Interestingly enough (or not...), my apartment building was itself a former brewery: Loewenbrau Bamberg.

I lived in the top floor (dormer windows under the roof)...where the grain was formerly stored...

Not the best smelling, but one that comes to mind immediately. Driving down the 405 freeway past the Budweiser brewery in Van Nuys, it either smells like french fries or stale urine in the air.

Mashing grains generally smell like Grape Nuts. Some heavy-duty projection going on here wrt macro places, I think.

I saw the thread title and thought "Trillium". Then suddenly I could feel and smell that sauna blast of hops when you walk in the front door. Then my mouth started to water. Then I went to my fridge and opened a growler of Treecreeper. Then I clicked on this thread link and smiled.

Sounds like where the high foul balls go at many minor league ballparks!

Live practically next door to the place! Wake up to that smell several times a week.....and it's glorious.

I actually enjoy that smell every time I'm driving by. Maybe it's just nostalgic since I've enjoyed it since I was a kid.

The Sandlot brewery located in Coors Field. Nothing beats the smell of beer brewing with a hint of hot dogs, nachos, and the smell of a MLB park.
