i will be driving to Appleton, WI Sunday and hoping someone could point me in the right direction of where to stop to find central waters stouts as well as good new glarus spots. Thx!

New glarus doesn't make many (any?) stouts.
Discount liquors I'm Milwaukee/Waukesha is a generally good place to look. I saw alesmith speedway stout and Mikkeller beer geek brunch weasel there, neither of which I've seen in il stores.

Central waters is regularly on shelves in liquor stores in WI (I am from Chicago and drive up there every few months for various things), but you are a bit too early for their bourbon barrel stout I believe - it usually comes out a bit later in the year. Might get lucky though.

I second Speedway - Ale smith distributes in WI, however it also distributes outside of Chicago, so it might not be a thing for you (I mean, you can get Speedway in all the rural IL Binnys).

I usually end up around Devils Lake and there is a 3 store chain up that way that often has an solid selection and stuff doesn't sell out up that way quite as fast since it is a long drive from any major town (Madison is an hour away) - Viking Liquors (part of Viking Express grocery stores) http://vikingliquorstores.com/

They have all their stuff up on Beer Menus, but you should call the specific store and confirm they have what you want because their listing isn't always updated as stuff sells out.

Most Grocery stores, and even some gas stations have standard New Glarus stuff.

I always have more luck at the Menomonee Falls Woodman's than I do at the Appleton one. Seems like they have a bigger selection.

It is about a month too soon to find the central waters bb stout out.

New Glarus makes a very good Coffee Stout but I'm not sure it's available right now. If you like Black IPA's the NG Blacktop is drinking really good right now.

Some locals can better speak to this, but @blackhusky makes a really good imp stout called 12 Dog. Just not sure of its availability right now or in that neck of the woods...

Drive to Central Waters in Amherst and buy some Sixteen.

And I agree with @SkippyChop, Big Slick Stout is a very good oatmeal stout that I enjoy a lot.

New to bottles. The beer has been around pretty much since they opened for business.

And IMHO, the best offering AA has.

Flanagan's in Appleton is probably the best store in the Fox Cities. Club Liquor in Menasha is pretty good as well. Central Waters is worth the 30-45 minute drive (Only open Fridays and Saturdays as far as I know). The Stone Cellar is a pretty good brewpub and may have a stout on. I have not been there in a month.
