Down to my last HT and it will be awhile until I get my hands on some more. I've decided that Sixpoint Resin will be my go to DIPA in the mean time. I enjoy it almost as much. What are your stand in beers?

When I can't have my HotD Dave, I settle for a seven year Dark Lord vert.

PTE is even hard to get a few miles from the brewery. As often as not I leave stores with Hop Stoopid instead. I can't say I'm always that disappointed.

I can usually get Flower Power or Be Hoppy when the Heady is no mas.

Lagunitas Maximus. It's always fresh around here and awesome for the price.

Are HT and Resin even remotely close? I ask because I've never had Heady, but I recently had Resin for the first time and thought it was terrible for the price point. If that's similar to Heady, I'm not going to bother trying to find it.

Headys are in Vermont and are hard to get unless you drive to the brewery or stores near there.

Lil sumpin sumpin stands in for Sucks.
Victory at sea stands in for Stone RIS , I do have some RIS cellaring but up here near Truckee it's not usually around all year, yet Victory At Sea is.
I can usually substitute Black Metal for Speedway Stout if I can't find it. But it's usually around.

Substituting sumpin for sucks and VaS for RIS are fulfilling and great.
but Black metal is not nearly as good as speedway. Similar though I feel.

When I strike out on Zombie Dust.... I usually grab some Alpha King as substitute. Its really not really heartbreaking to sit and enjoy Alpha King though. lol

I don't find Resin and Heady similar at all, in flavor profile or in quality.

I was drinking Lagunitas Sucks when I wanted something I could find locally and didn't have anything from VT.

Usually have a plethora of options but let's just say I'm at the shitty store day before shipments start coming in.... Two hearted is always there for me :-)

While watching the Red Sox on TV I like to drink Naragansett Lager. So far I have been able to get it from Beers of the World without interruption but they are now out and not sure if they can get more. In the event that I run out, my backup beer for Sox games will be Sam Adams Boston Lager.

Similarly, on Sundays in the Summer I like to drink Naragansett Summer Ale, but again BOTW is out and unlikely to get more. I have a whole stable of stand ins including Brooklyn Summer Ale, Goose Island Summertime, Harpoon Summer Beer, Southampton Keller Pils, Sixpoint The Crisp, Bitburger Premium Pils and Sierra Nevada Summerfest Lager.

Most of you have had a beer that reminds you of another beer (insert Lagunitas joke), but have you had any that were dead ringers?

Per a friend's suggestion, i tried Coronado's Sock Knocker side by side with a 5 day old Pliny. While i didn't do it blind, i still had a hard time finding any noticeable nuances. PtE had a little more body, but not by much. Same color, nose, hop profile, balance...

Anyway, what beers have you had that seem to replicate some of the more acclaimed beers?

Ten Fidy and FIS.. Never done a side by side but taste, appearance and especially mouthfeel are very similar to me.
