Okay, I know I am a homer, and love Kegan, I know some don't, but Super Kitty back in the day was a killer beer, I think we all agree on that? It has had a few years of mediocrity, to be kind, since then, IMO. Last year they lowered the price per ounce drastically with a reasonably priced 4pak, but I thought it was their worst batch. Still, at that price, it was still a good value. This latest batch? Drinking my first one right now and gotta say this is what I remember it being fresh in the good years. Drinking stupid good, and I will bet this ages into nectar of the gods. Gonna get a buncha these, if I still can, to put away. Has anyone tried this year's? Who can get this? Can you get Super Kitty? Where are you? Does it even make it out of my area (Mid Hud Valley)? Have you tried it? What do you think? Have you / are you enjoying this latest as much as I am?
i live on long island and have super kitty and hurricane kitty at my local shop...ive had hurricane and love it...mean to try super on my next visit...hopefully the beer is better than their ugly bottles!!
Maybe I'll give it another try. I had last batch and didn't care for it at all. Aged a bottle for a year and I liked it a good amount more.
Dave, my favorite SuperK dates back to the 2007 release (never had one before that) and it's been downhill from there. I could not get too excited about this year's either. Unfortunately. I would agree with the price point though. $12 for a four pack of SuperK is not bad at all. Just wish I could like it a bit more.
To me this year's tastes like 2009 which was the last year I thought was great.. Maybe a touch less body, otherwise that great balance of clean honey, malt, and hops with just a hint of wood and alcohol that always made this so good.
I don't recall how long ago but the last time I had Super Kitty, I almost choked on the alcohol. But since cavedave has never let me down with any of his posted suggestions, I'm going to give it another try. Good to know it's in 4 pks. so hopefully I can just buy a single.
