I'm taking a Cali trip to SD, drive up to LAx, fly to SF, fly back to Boston. What's the best time to make a visit to get the best beers?

Beginning of November is usually an ideal time – San Diego Beer Week, and the weather here is still really nice (usually low 70s).

Best time would be to attend the best festival in CA - FWIBF.

Hey SageO…I've checked on the SDBW site but not much info on events there yet. I'm sure it will get inputted as it gets closer to the beer week. Never been. Which event can you recommend for an overnight stay?

Yeah there are a lot of events that don’t get added until literally a week before SDBW. Usually I just rotate through whatever tap takeovers Obriens, Toronado, or Hamilton’s are doing, and also I do the Alesmith Grand Prix. Other than the Grand Prix there aren’t any events that I always attend year to year so kind of hard TBH to recommend one particular event without knowing the schedule. I think Obriens usually does BA beers on the last Friday of SDBW though, so that might be a good stake in the ground?

Also, where you plan on going factors into it. SF & LA are 500 miles apart. Weather does vary all over the state.

That said SFBW is in early February & the weather is usually pretty good.

The best events in Cali, nay, the world, are spread out throughout the calendar. Firestone is uber fantastic but it's one day and done.

So chose between SD Week in Nov. and SF Week in Feb. Both will tear you a new set of taste buds.

Tyson's Big Ass Barrel party. God, is that hard on my liver and stomach.

Am I the first one that will register a complaint about "Cali"? LOL

Is "Cali" a negative term? It's not a commonly used term but I've heard it enough and in 50 years living here, never heard a complaint.

    Cali is in Colombia.

But if you wanna sound like a wannabe pornstar who just moved here from Egg Harbor Township Cali works.

I'm second, just because it reminds of that old crappy rap song. Does anyone in Massachusetts call their state 'Massi"?

The only LOL reference I know in music is the Cure's original drummer. But I'm sure there's a more recent reference; I'm just unaware of it.

My problem with "Cali" is that 95% of people I've seen use that term in forums are not from California. The only locals that defend its usage are douchebags that thought LL Cool J was cutting edge.
