Haha. What a crock of crap. Midnight sun, Deschutes, Uinta, Fremont, The Alchemist...really? Who wrote this? Most, if not all, are well known. Especially by BA members. I will give them props for mentioning Ozark Beer Co from my home state of AR. They put out some amazing beers.

Dead Armadillo? Really? I would have to vote for Anthem for best unknown brewery to those who don't live in Oklahoma. Anthem's core/limited beer portfolio is at least 3x what Dead Armadillo has, and everything Anthem makes is far and away better than even Dead Armadillo's best beer.

It's all relative. Unknown to whom? To out-of-staters, I'd go with Bosque, although I agree with you that that is going to change with the GABF medals. But even Marble is still a foreign name to most outside the state.

As an unknown with some great beers, I'd go with Boxing Bear. They show a lot of potential.

    Questionable picks abound:
    • Kern River for CA
    • Deschutes for OR
    • Kane for NJ
    • Casey for CO
    • Proclamation for RI
    • Creature Comforts for GA
    • Jester King for TX
    • Cycle for FL
    • Uinta for UT
    • The Alchemist for VT
    • Midnight Sun for AK
    • Fremont (which they spelled as "Freemont") for WA
    • Black Husky for WI (as the only state I've been a long-time resident of, I suggest either Funk Factory or Lazy Monk)
    • Straight to Ale for AL
    • Stoneface for NH
    • Side Project for MO
    • Town Hall for MN
    • Kuhnhenn for MI
    • Blackberry Farm for TN
    • Transient for IL
    • Parish for LA
    • Bissell Bros. for ME
    • Hoof Hearted for OH
    • Other Half for NY
I based that questionability on how well-known they were. A whole new can of worms could be opened if we were to discuss their "popular beer" (seriously, Kern River's isn't Double Citra? Deschutes with some bock I've never heard of? Casey isn't either a Fruit Stand or a Cut? One of the few non-hoppy beers from Black Husky? Creature Comforts isn't Tropicalia or See the Stars?), or whether they were indeed the best little-known brewery.

This is probably one of the worst lists of all time. It's absolutely laughably bad. The easy and obvious misspelling of "Fremont" just adds to the comedy; editing your work is not difficult, especially when you're publishing it.

Second Self in Atlanta. They have the best ginger flavored beer I've ever had, and I don't think they are very popular yet.

straight to ale is badass beer, they are by far the most creative in AL and the most successful with their experiments, I hope they inspire others to take more risks in alabama

Their Giant Slayer IRS was astounding. Rating average may not say so, but if you're ever in Michigan TRY IT.

As a general rule lists suck, but that has to be one of the most sucky ones.

It's a nice list for people outside of BA and those just getting into the beer scene. We on BA live on here...

This list really lost credibility very quickly with some of their earlier choices.

Oklahoma couldn't have been more wrong. Coop Aleworks and Anthem are relatively unknown outside of Oklahoma, and, as DrumKid said, produce better beers across the board than Dead Armadillo.

As for Kansas, Gella's does produce some good beers, but my choice would have been Defiance Brewing, which is also in Hays.

I wholeheartedly agree with Arkansas, though. Ozark produces some amazing beers.

He's definitely making solid beers, though I really want to support Trailhead more, especially after the controversy of Shea's delayed opening. Trailhead is like going to a friend's house and having solid, unfiltered homebrew, one of the few places I would call a nanobrewery.

Massachusetts has a brand so unknown it's brewer doesn't even live in America anymore....I love enlightenment but if you were to do unknown or small why not 75% of the western MA beers getting zero press.

NJ id go with Forgotten Boardwalk. They distribute 4 canned beers. If that makes them known id go with Pinelands Brewing in my town. Very tiny. But good beer. My favorite blonde ale comes from them.

They have a sweet potato cranberry porter i cant wait to try

Not sure for WI, probably Dave's Brew Farm. Lot's of interesting beers coming out of there. Shame they are only open 2 weekends a month.

CT has many great but small breweries that may be unknown to people outside of the region. Willamantic Brewing is unknown, at least to me, and I doubt it is the best of a very impressive list.
My vote for Connecticut is Kent Falls.
