Someone is swinging the literal club around today. Not literally of course:stuck_out_tongue:

Sure "Lesser known/heard of" would be better, but I don't think anyone was confused. Except the person that made that list:grinning:

I assumed that the list implied places that were basically unknown of to people outside of the respective state. Which is why I stopped reading after Deschutes. I thought it was an interesting topic in general though. With social media, and sites like this, I wonder how many really good breweries exist that people outside of the area have never heard of.

Exactly. Little known would be better. Plus, to the larger public, even some larger craft breweries like Dogfish Head are unknown. Literally. For this crowd, it needs to be very new and very small to be "unknown."

Of course, you are correct about the literal club although I was certain I'd get a 'the spelling/grammer police are out today' reply. However, it's as much laziness on the part of a question maker to not ask the question to him or herself from an objective point of view to see if it makes sense. As you indicated, adding a few choice words makes the question clearer without the reader needing to make an assumption which may or may not be what the writer intended. My point is that a little thought goes a long way and IMHO expresses the question so it may be taken more seriously.

This was a terrible, stupid, pointless list, but they nailed Massachusetts, even if Enlightenment doesn't exist anymore.

This list is kind of a joke. Most of these breweries are pretty well known.

Wouldn't you have to visit every brewery in your state in order to make a truly informed decision ?

Town Hall makes good beer but everybody in Town Hall's market knows about Town Hall. There are probably 20 - 30 less well known breweries that also make good beer that might better deserve a spot on the list. It reality it is very hard to come up with a list of the best unknown brewery in a state from a national level because if you are on a national level, you will not know or have heard about the unknown brewery. Anyone on this website can probably pick out a dozen or so less well known breweries in their area that make beer as good as the brewery in their area that made the list.

Its a good list for someone who has just returned to civilization after 10 - 15 years but in general if you drink craft beer you do not need the list.

I had two of R. Shea's beers at a 'fest in Akron this summer. Both impressed me, and I'm looking forward to getting down to Akron again to try some more.

It should be Anthem instead of Dead Armadillo for Oklahoma, but neither is well known or distributed outside of OK. Plus, Dead Armadillo hasn't expanded their offerings yet. Right now they have a seasonal and an amber, and are bottling their IPA in a newly opened brewery either this week or next week.
I'd go with Chama River instead of Basque for NM. I think it's better and it's definitely not as easy to find as Basque.
