Definitely too many good breweries. My favorite is Stone. Some of my other favorites are Deschutes, Rogue Ales, Great Divide, and Dogfish Head.

You know, I didn't even think about that. What's the most expensive Smuttynose beer, like eight bucks? seven?

There aren't many breweries that beat Smutty for cost:awesomeness ratio.

Russian River, Dogfish Head, Great Divide, Boulevard (their Doublewide is enough reason to make the list), Fat Heads in Cleveland (brew pub, but that cask-conditioned IPA, oh my), Avery, and Dry Dock (even though they had to rename their Seven Seas, it's still fantastic). Best of that bunch? Avery.

Best US state for beer? Colorado, quantity, quality, and the yearly GABF.

Too many great breweries to choose from.
But being a local supporter and having damn good beer I can't consciously not support the home team, Hill Farmstead.

    All the way baby!!

If you had to go by the quality of each beer released I would say Six Point

Quality, value and consistency should be the 3 factors taken into account. When you have brewers like FW, RR and The Bruery putting out fantastic, huge beers but at a hefty price I think then value and consistency need to be weighed in. My vote goes to Lagunitas with Sierra Nevada a close second. Consistency and value are the 2 strongest features of both these breweries and not to mention availability. But at the same time I haven't tried selections from each and every brewery in the country and only a few, if any, have. It's really hard to nail down one answer to such a broad question...

Because it's the question I posed! Obviously there isn't an obvious best, I wanted to get a general idea for what brewery folks loved - there are some on the list so far I've had very little from - or none at all. That makes me happy.

Personally I would go with Great Divide, although Bells and Cigar City definitely need to be mentioned.

I'll throw in another vote for Hill Farmstead. Everything I've had from them is either stellar and the best of the style I've ever had or just really solid. I've never had anything by the, that was disappointing and they do it with every style. They have a ton of great saisons and wild ales, IPAs and DIPAs, porters and stouts, and barrle aged beers.

Honorable mention to Jolly Pumpkin. I wish I has more access to their stuff, but everything I've had is great.

There's an awful lot of the country more than 4 hours from Founders' distribution.

Russian River from my one time there was awesome. I would also throw out Lagunitas(although I've only had 4 of their beers) and Smuttynose.
