yeah, i'm limited to my selections being in nebraska, and there's so many great breweries overall, but out of the ones i can get, odell might be my fave. they have so many good standards and i always look forward to their rarer releases and am sometimes still really surprised by them...most recently footprint, which i kind of thought would be a mess, but it's a really great beer.

I've never tried many of the west coast greats but I'm visiting San Diego in a month and will be hitting up a bunch of breweries and drinking as much California IPA as possible.

A meaningless question as there is no precise answer.Even taking subjectivity out of the equation (and "best" really relates to individual taste) the breweries aren't standing still. There will be breweries and beers which posters probably don't even know about so how can any nomination stand up to scrutiny?
But here is a philosophical question. If X brewery makes the best individual beer in the world but Y brewery makes the #2 and #3 best beers in the world which brewery is the better of the two?

because there here is America son. if there can't be a best, then thats called communism! :grinning:

for me, its founders. no other brewery that ive tried (im from the midwest, so biased) has the same balance of fantastic regulars, amazing seasonals, and leave-you-drooling specialty beers. ive only been to their brewery once, but i was impressed, and i read about all kind of events they host for the city of GR.

EDIT: wasn't there a list somebody made once that used the beer reviews on BA to make giant rank list?

I would also have to say Founders. A awesome selection of beers that are simply outstanding. They are easily bought right off the shelf without having to jump through hoops to get them.

I hate when I have to jump through hoops to get beer. But would rather do that then say walk over hot coals or swim aross a river to get beer

for me its Russian River, im not a big stout guy and love IPAs and sours, and they arent in NJ so when i go to PA quite often and pick up some RR its a treat, also bells, founders, and to me lagunitas has really been stepping up their game alot lately

I would pick Founders or Odell. Both have great regular line-ups, seasonals, big beers, and fair prices. They both push the envelope and I can't name too many misses from either brewery, impressive.

I'm excited to see if this brings more attention to the great beer already in Asheville. I read that SN will open some of their facilities to smaller breweries in the area. I'd love to see things from Highland or Green Man make it farther West!!!
