Oh and Kulshan released bottles of their bourbon bbl imp stout. Anyone had it? Might be worth picking up.

The current batch of Wisdom Seeker is brewery only.

And Pike's Entire Oak Aged Stout is fantastic.

I stopped by Gravity on my way home from BC this afternoon in search of some Top Cutter. The place seemed pretty picked over in my opinion, but I admittedly could have been overlooking some great things that I was just ignorant about. I always prefer to shop at the little local shop, but Gravity was out of both Top Cutter and Field 41 today, and the guy at the counter told me they've been out for awhile because it sells fast.

The Total Wine on the other side of town ended up being well stocked though, thankfully. And the 6 packs only cost $8.

Top Cutter really might be my favorite regional IPA, and the fact that it's available in cans just puts it over the top. Absolutely love this stuff.

I'd never been to Gravity but I suspected this might be the case.

To the OP, if your brother in law is willing to drive to 99 Bottles, their selection is always great. I also think they have Hop Venom on tap right now if you decide growlers are of interest.

Hate to agree but I'm finding TW to be faster rotating and more options than most bottleshops. Mostly for popular stuff obviously. You want 2 yr old Alaskan beers, they got those too:wink:

Total Wine was more endearing when they were just a leach on the east coast scene. I guess they still are - the east coast of lake Washington though

I should add that the Top Cutter I picked up today was canned on 11/26. So damned good.

I got the last 3 pours out of (what the bartender said was) the only keg. Very good, but IMHO, not a $1/oz beer, which is what the bottles are selling for.

You've seen bottles of Whiskey Trumpeter? Because, if such things exist, I need to grab a few. That beer is a dark horse candidate for best beer in the state.

Yep, seen it at a bunch of places. $15 I think.

Well then, looks like a trip down to MV is called for. BTW, I happen to have a few bottles of 09 Trumpeter, that I think is drinking just great. I recently sent one to @vurt , we'll ask him for his unbiased opinion.

That bottle is sitting patiently in the fridge, waiting to be the beer I open to celebrate the end of my Xmas shopping.

Quite Concur as to 99 Bottles. It's a pearl amongst strip mall swine. The only trick is to walk out without spending all your money or lamenting what you chose not to buy.

Just be aware that they don't stay open all that late (99 bottles). Except on Sunday, they close at 8:00, and on Sunday they close at 5:00. There have been a couple of times I've stopped by there after wine tasting and dinner up in Woodinville, only to realize too late they were already closed.

Sadly, that's the only Holy Mountain beer I've been able to have (at Engine House #9), and have to agree with your statement.

So, John, you drove up from Portland on what is perhaps the most accursed portion of I-5 for a wine tasting & dinner in Woodinville, then drove back down again the same night? More than once?
I'm thinking the word to look for is heroic, but crazy might also work...:grimacing:

That seems MUCH more reasonable. I had enough of I-5 just dealing with the stretch between Federal Way and Oly -especially the part affected by JBLM. I had this image of him crossing back over the Columbia around 4AM and hating life...

Definitely give the brown and the ris a chance if you see them. Superb. Maybe I'm being overly enthusiastic but I put both in the "among the best I've had" category, not just best available locally.

King's Head is one of the best browns I've ever had. Pretty damn amazing and I normally don't like the style much. The Herkimer coffee version on nitro at Burgundian was stellar as well.
