Heading there this weekend. From prior threads, I gather that the best local bottle shops in town to stock up are Beach Liquors and Banks Wine & Spirits. I understand that Atlantic Liquors in Rehoboth probably has a better selection than both.

I read that the DFH brewpub and Henelopen Oyster House, both up the road in Rehoboth are worth checking out along with Burley Oak and Evolution brewing as far as breweries in the general area.

Am I missing anything? Any bottle shops in/around Bethany other than the ones I mentioned? Any other breweries or restaurants with great beer menus in the area worth checking out?

Any suggestions for the best crabcake, oysters or divey breakfast spots in Bethany?

Just wanted to check because most of the threads are at least a year old. Thanks for any help!

I'm actually going to be in OCMD in about a month and was wondering the same thing down there (I know they're relatively close). Are there any good shops or places to hit up in OCMD? From what I've seen, a lot of the breweries there are receiving subpar reviews.

The family and I try to get to Rehobeth every summer, Atlantic liquors is top notch for selection and pricing. I always end up bringing home a bunch of out of distro stuff from there every year. The DFH brewpub is a great joint. Food is good, family friendly, some interesting draft choices that are usually exclusives, and a "cellar list" that usually includes aged WWS. The brewery itself is pretty close too, and if memory serves the tour is family friendly too.

I'll second this. Love that place! Flying under the radar because it's in Dewey, but they make top notch beers. Food is great too.

Looks like you got it covered, I'll put in another vote for Burely Oak, my favorite brewery in that area. If you do a day trip to Assateague it's really easy to get to from there. I usually hit the beach there early morning (8 or so, then get to BO as they open at 11) No need to hit the breweries right in OC.

One thing to think about is that this weekend will be absolutely packed, driving and parking anywhere (not parking at Burley Oak) will be a nightmare. Plan ahead, stop at Atlantic (if you are coming in from the north) on your way in and stock up for the weekend. Also the Rehoboth fireworks are on Sunday, traffic getting in and out will be the absolute worst of the year.

My wife and i just went to rehoboth for a weekend a couple weeks ago. DFH is a good stop, but they dont really have that much thats exclusive. we went there for lunch, and it fit the bill nicely for that.

Henlopen was amazing, great tap list and the food was incredible. Like many places in the area they do use peanut oil (im allergic) but they handled my allergy amazingly and it was just a great great place. absolutely worth going there

You pretty much got the basics covered, Bethany is a lot smaller in options for dining and beer shopping than say Rehoboth Beach, and Rt. 1 area. There's a half decent small bottle shop right by Seaside called Beach Liquors, but the other bigger shop such as Atlantic, Cape Wine & Sprits (Lewes), Outlet Liquors are going to offer more selection mostly cause of their warehouse size.

Liquid assets down the road in OC for good food and beer. Crab cakes- Off the Hook and crabcake Factory on 54.
Also on the way down on route 1 hit up Pickled Pig for good gastro and draft selection.

If you stop at DFH pub in Rehoboth, please give a report on service there. It has been hit or miss when I've gone. Beerwise, I know what I'm getting, service, not so much.

I've never had a bad time there in five years. Yes, sometimes they're slammed, but I've always at least gotten the food I ordered and the beer made me wait happily.

Good to hear. I generally would be very frustrated with (typically) the males behind the bar who were more interested in the younger female customers (especially summertime crowds) than the rest of us.

not that there's anything wrong with that other than having to wait.
