I have a semi-regular commute from my home (near Providence) up to the Wilmington area north of Boston. Depending on how Waze sends me, I wind up making the trip a number of different ways, and I've been trying to find some nice spots to stop along the way to break up the long drives. Some of my favorites so far are: Redstone (Andover/Stoneham) great bottle shops close to Wilmington Armsby Abbey / Wormtown (Worcester): when traffic is nuts on 95, and I get routed waay West Jack's Abbey (Framingham): Just figured I'd ask in case anyone can think of one or a bunch of places I should try and check out. I mostly go up and down 95, 495, 146, 90, 295, etc.
I would check out Blue Hills Brewery (Canton). Their beers are good and although I have never been to the brewery I know they have beer tastings Fridays and Saturdays. Jacks Abbey is a solid choice my roommates always get growlers from there. Eagle Brook Saloon (Norfolk) has some great local brews as well.
Bog Iron in Norton is just a few miles off of 495 from exit 10. They're open Wednesday 4-9pm and Saturday 10am-5pm. Definitely worth a stop if your travels coincide with their hours. The taproom is a nice little space. Can get crowded but the vibe is laid back and friendly.
wow, great stuff - thanks. I didn't realize Julio's was that close. I'm adding them all to my list, thanks everyone.
Nikki's is a great bottle shop seconds off 95 in Providence (they moved last year to a great new space).
Bog Iron has a great DIPA that is worth checking out. I have traveled up and down 495 and 146 for 8 years going to work in Worcester. off 495 CBC Westford Nashoba Brewery Medusa Brewery (Hudson) Vin Bin (Hopkinton) Crafted (Holliston) bit of a trek off 495 Prezo (Milford) Pour Richards (Franklin) Village Liquors (Franklin) BBC (Franklin) Wampum Corner (Wrentham) off 146 3 Cross (Worcester) Lenny's Liquors (Milbury) Ravenous. (Woonsocket) Mendon Wines and More (Cumberland) B&C Liquors (Smithfield)
thanks guys. I stopped by Julio's today and grabbed expresso yeti and a bunch of weyerbacher sunday morning -- very excited it's kinda, sorta on the way home. excited to tackle some of the other items on the lists. thanks MVP, I'll figure out a way to hit them all eventually!
If you're ever sent up 95 North to 495 North, there is a Wines & More just off the highway in Mansfield. Solid large selection with small hard to get section.
Cone check out Wormtown when you can. I manage the tap room. Ten beers on draft. We have some really nice stuff coming coming up in the next couple weeks.
Natty Greene's Tavern in North Attleboro has a fantastic tap list. They update the list frequently on their Facebook page.
