Found a double door pepsi fridge for sale for pretty cheap. Great condition, works perfectly. Was wondering if anyone has used one of these for their cellar(only crawlspace here, fridge going into garage). Seeing if anyone has any suggestions or has problems with these. Thanks!

Anything that will get the beer cold enough (i.e. below 40F) is fine.

well i dont want it to go below 55 as most beers are cellared at that temp. i have a temp controller on a old fridge whos gaskets and seals have gone bad and caused some condensation i didnt want. i will hook the temp contoller up to the new fridge but just seeing if anyone had problems with the fridges them selves

I have a used True gdm-72 in my garage, it's hooked up to a Johnson temp controller. It's been running like champ for the past 4 years. The compressor can get loud over time but that's normal. I've seen them perform fine for years like that. Make sure you pop the cover off the bottom front of the cooler every 6 months to a year to clean out any dust that builds up between the condenser fins and you'll be fine for a long time.

Oh word, you did say celler. I think the bevage fridges are solid so I'd go for it, as long as it fits the demensions you need. Why not get it?

i have two (one is in my avatar) and the other was from publix that they were going to throw away. both are great, although i have had to get a thermostat for the one from publix (apparently they use much more energy due to the nature of being opened and closed). note though, that your electric bill could go up significantly using these type of fridges. I dont care though lol.

I always wondered that. What are we talking here, like $30 or like $100? An electric spa is only about $30/month extra lol

My mini (4.4cu ft I think) fridge used to cost about $4-5 a month, so I could see a big one being 20-30

well my man cave takes up about 33% of my electricity each month. i compare with my buddy who lives in same condo, same sq footage. his electric bill in summer is like 180 and mine is 280. winter months, his is 100 and mine is 150. i also have a 40,000 btu AC unit due to the florida heat (it hums all summer long b/c the roof is tin and non-insulated). i wouldnt' say the coolers are horrible on electricity but definitely are not eco friendly. i would not hesitate to buy one based off that.

Definitely take into consideration the electricity. Personally it would be well worth it if you didn't have anywhere else logically to store/cellar beer.

It is in a Florida room. It's a porch with vinyl windows with shades on the east and west side so they don't come into contact with sunlight. Part of th reason I got the massive AC was do the hear doesn't cause the fridge to be overworked. Good luck with your fridge. I think you'll enjoy it a lot!
