I'll make this short. I agreed to a trade on July 12th with @rm2290 . It was a $4$ trade with me sending BA Old Numbskull, Atrial, DDBA, Boulevard BBQ and some Almanac sours for 4 Uplands he had recently won in the lottery. Shortly thereafter (after a trade was already accepted formally through the system), he reneged on his offer because he thought he was "getting the very short end of the stick." I told him it was bad form to back out after a trade was formally accepted. He then conceded that it was and that he just didn't want to trade the two Vino's since they were new and he hadn't had them yet. I said okay and we worked out an amended trade for 4 Uplands. Fast forward 2.5 months and dude still hasn't sent anything or indicated he was going to (I did NOT send anything mind you, as he is newer to the game and I requested he ship first). Awhile ago, he gave some excuses as to why he couldn't send them (you know the drill...look at several of the bad trader threads so carefully documented by @mythaeus ...THANKS BTW!!). He has been online several times and hasn't said a peep in over a month.

So maybe it wasn't so short after all (that's what she said). I no longer care about the mega-waelzbro Uplands; I have received them in other trades. My main agenda here is alerting the community so they don't waste their time. I felt it was not right to give him negative feedback since I didn't actually ship on my end and wasn't technically screwed out of anything besides my time. Take it for what you will; you have been warned.

If all of the above is true, congrats to @rm2290 because no one who reads this is ever going to trade with you. Way to be a crappy BA.

Although you didn't lose any beer, in my book someone who agrees to the trade and then decides to back out is a bad trader.

@rm2290 - Care to provide your side of the story?

I can forgive backing out of a trade under some unforeseen circumstances (can't procure the beer on pre-trade, financial issues, family issues, etc.), but not for wanting more beer AFTER agreeing on a trade.

You should at least leave neutral feedback man. That way any of his future partners have the chance to hear your story. Not everyone visits this forum.

That actually never crossed my mind (not sure why...I think I completely forgot about neutral feedback). I just may end up doing that.

As for his responding, I sadly would not count on it. I have sent him several messages in the past month and the last time he sent a message to me was August 19th. I guess his first feedback should have clued me in to the fact that there might be potential problems.

I would say this merits a "bad" rating, not neutral. Neutral is "ok, but ..." This is anything but ok. If you consider formal acceptance a casual contract this person broke the contract, renegotiated, and then broke it again!

Being just screwed "out of your time" is being screwed out of money IMHO.

Before we hang this guy in beer effigy, wait to see if he appears to give his side of the story. Several times this has happened & there's been more to the story than meets the eye, verbal sparring ensues, & both sides look bad in the end.

Doesn't appear he's been on since this was posted.

While I feel @rm2290 pulled a pretty lame move, at least nobody is out any beer. Like many of the bad trader situations, it could have been much worse

Thats up to the OP to decide, I was simply encouraging him to leave some kind of feedback. Its certainly a hot topic here whether someone who back out deserves 'bad' feedback or not.

I will let this ride for a few days and see if he gets on and responds.

True, two sides to every story, but on many of these threads the trader in question is tagged and never appear. rm2290 has been tagged, if he is still active and cares about his reputation he will jump in here, if he is long gone then he is as bad trader.

i resent that. it's been a good long while since that happened in a bad trader thread.

of course, we've had to break a few eggs here and there and clean up some messes, but by and large these threads stay up.

In an effort to allow him a fair amount of time to show up and respond, I inadvertently allowed our open trade to pass the 90-day mark (absolutely dumbfounded that it's been that long already), thus rendering both of us unable to leave any feedback whatsoever. :slight_frown:

So it's been 10 days since he's been online... @F2brewers, is there any suggested length of time to wait in these circumstances? Also, should I assume there is no way to reopen a trade so feedback can be left?

IMO, you should certainly take some action prior to expiration of the 90 day window. You can *always* go back and edit your feedback if things change.

I don't believe that there's anyway to go back and re-open the trade. I certainly can't do it. Maybe BM Todd and ask him, but I think that ship has sailed.

Hopefully he'll chime in if/when he logs back in. Other thank that, if you don't have an email/phone number to contact him and there's noone else here who knows him, I think you're out of luck.

We'll leave this open in hopes that he does show up or that you have an update.
