Bham BA meet up?

    I'd be up for getting together for some swill. I've been looking for a good excuse to visit Stones Throw as I haven't been there yet... maybe a good starting spot on a sunny day, if we ever get one again?? My schedule is pretty flexible, could do a Friday afternoon into early evening. Weekends are a bit more hectic as I have 2 younger kids.

    I would drive from Oak Harbor for a meet or bottle share. You never know what beer from FL I may have stashed away.

    OK, seems like there's enough basic interest, now for the sticky details. Bottle share or brewery/pub crawl? If a share, where? If a crawl how big? When? My schedule varies, and I suspect weekends would probably be the choice for most. Do Sundays work for folks? That's generally my fun day (I try to participate in the NBS thread). Non BA folks welcome? Thoughts, opinions, options, whatever, get 'em up on this thread!

    I'm definitely in for meeting up at a couple breweries. My schedule is tough right now so it's hard for me to commit. Throw a date out there and lets see who can come.

    My days off are Friday and Saturday, but I'm going back to FL to visit August 2ND. Throw something out and I'll see if I can make it.

    It would be a lot of fun to book a weekend at Larabee and host a multiple day/eve share. Would have to book a few sites or a group site to make it feasible and not get kicked out. Maybe something to coordinate next year!

    Just me personally, and I know I'll be in the minority, but I have zero interest in a bottle share. All that does is stir interest from people who don't really take part in this forum to want to attend so they can sample bottles, when it's really supposed to be about those of us who chat on here regularly having a "meet up". That isn't to say that I'm at all against people who are new or even only post infrequently attending. No, I'm just not thrilled with the folks who are only concerned with sharing bottles and not so much the meetup aspect. To me I guess it's more about the social/meet up than it is about trying rare beers that people bring.

    I'm a bit torn. These tend to not happen, unless one person makes a decision, then we respond, and an agreement is made. That's how the BA meetup at Toronado happened last summer. Despite my inherent shyness, I have zero problems speaking up. So; here's the last chance for all y'all to throw an idea that works for you out there, then we all judge and juggle schedules and desires. There is not going to be a perfect date, ever, and our opinions will vary as to format.

    If, after a few days (say, 4-7) some sort of idea hasn't coalesced about this, I'll decide what works for me, both time and format. Then, everyone can decide if it works for them.

    My first caveat is, I really want to find a date that works for @gator79 . Dude is stationed at NASWI, and as beautiful as Whidbey is, Oak Harbor just can't be a prime deployment town. Let's see what we can do for a homefry. As much as I basically agree with @TheBungyo about a share potentially turning into a dick-swinging contest, it's probably the option that best lets us hang and bullshit with each other. The big problem with a share is, location. Public place? Private? Non BA's welcome? Former BAs?

    So, roughly a week from now, if there's still not a general consensus, I'll just make a decision, and we can work from there.

    Game is certainly on!

    I'd definitely prefer a meet up / brewery crawl over a bottle share. I don't have a huge cellar, mainly a bunch of Fremont bombers of all years and a bunch of randoms that I'm looking forward too. I don't want to come across as a mooch to people I'm just meeting. I say try and work out a date with @gator79 and let everyone else figure out if they can come. If nothing else, I'd still like to meet up for a beer with ya sometime. :slight_smile:

    And also, do you guys get notifications from threads? I have notifications set up, but I never get anything... an in emails. When I visit the site, I see if my name is mentioned or quoted though.

    PS: I will probably get a hotel up with that way so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
