Anybody else going to the Invitational this Saturday at Bier Stein? https://www.beeradvocate.com/events/info/83210/ I'll be there pouring at the Alesong booth from 12-3 then enjoying after my shift.
Justin. I probably won't be able to attend, but was curious about the pricing. Are additional ticket purchases a dollar a piece, or two dollars?
Extra tickets are $1 a piece. Entry is $20 at the door. CASH ONLY. Most of the beers are 1 ticket, a handful are 2, few are 3, a couple are 4. Looks to be quite fairly priced, much more than the complaints about the beer fest in Eugene last month...
I'm all for places like the Stein and Oakshire making a few bucks on an event like this, but sometimes it seems like their enthusiasm for making a killing becomes a bit excessive. IMHO, that seemed to be the case with this year's Hellshire event. In the case of the invitational, it sounds like the cost of the ticket (and additional beer ticket prices) are much more in line with actual costs the Bier Stein is going to incur. Anyway, sounds like it should be a very fun time. Will try to make it down if I can!
Yeah, I haven't gone to Hellshire in a few years now. Can't validate dropping $40 for a $5 piece of glassware and 4-6 tastes. I like the Stein's Invitational. Fairly affordable (especially for me as I volunteer to pour and get bonuses for the event). They hand pick the brewers and stipulate that the beers have to be specialties. Some places still bring some weak beers that we can easily get around town (even if it is only for a few months). Logsdons is bringing Peche and a Spontaneous, that's gonna be awesome.
I'll be there and will definitely stop by the Alesong booth. Doing a little pre-function as I type, enjoying my first taste of Mosaic Touch of Brett. What will you be pouring? The 3 recent releases?
Hands down, best beer there was the Block15 Spontaneous Consequence Tropical Farm. So complex, so fruity, deep, rich, refreshing. Damn tasty beer.
