Don't bother getting a growler filled at Prospect Heights Beer Works. While I like the two guys who work there and their price/selection is pretty solid, they do not know how to fill a growler properly. Got a growler of OH Green Diamonds from them once and it was flat/stale in less than 6 hours, unopened. I still swing by there regularly for bottles and cans though. I'm gonna give Bierkraft a call this weekend to see what's available and why they don't update online anymore. Maybe if I call every weekend asking the same question they'll get the message, though judging from the responses here I'm doubtful.

Anyone know if Threes Brewing will just do growler fills of their own beers, or all the other beers they have on tap also?

Other Half, but their selection is obviously limited to Other Half beers.

Did you get any kind of response? They really should know that they're losing business as a result.

This thread makes me a little sad. Bierkraft rubbed me the wrong way initially, but I grew to really like them. They had really great kegs, nice events, a frequently updated beermenus page, early opening hours, and contrary to popular belief: they were a good place to buy some singles as you downed your beer. I really enjoyed going there. I never got a snob vibe there. Hopefully, they won't change too much. Just before I moved out of NYC, I managed to go on a bender and I threw up in their bathroom. Parting is such sweet sorrow. Or not.

I get why a place like American Beer Distributing gets scorn from folks on this site. For me, I like most beer places... from the boutiques to the dusty warehouses. This store was one of the first stores that got me interested in beer. That must have been a good bit after 2000 or something. I remember going there when they had a really bad leak in their roof. They had tarps covering half the store, buckets all over the floor, and beer all over the place that I never heard of. It was awesome. I've gotten some nice gems from them in the past. I never went in there expecting customer service, refrigeration or 1 month young beer... but I always manged to leave with something interesting. I guess I'm just a "warts and all" kind of guy/idiot.

I've noticed the other closings in @Kanger 's thread. I never even managed to make it to 508 but they stood out. I went to Heartland at Union Square once and hated the beer, but I had a great time with a pal. So sad. Not to mention DBA.

Anyone know if they ever got that keg of Kuhnhenn BBBW that they pretended to have last August?

Thought I heard something about a "mix-up" and that it would be put on at some point in the future...

It's probably on right now, and they're not updating beermenus because they don't want to share.

I've only been over to bierkraft a few times, but I will say they use to have an amazing giant sandwich there for only $10.

Unfortunately, it's "had" now. The sandwiches are now up to $12-$14 or more depending on which you get.

If there's anything making Bierkraft a great spot, it's certainly not the prices

I was specifically talking about their growler prices, I don't buy bottles from them as they're known to price gouge. They get kegs from Other Half pretty regularly and their growler prices for said beers are anywhere from $4-8 cheaper than getting it from the actual brewery, which I think is pretty good.

ETA: I called last weekend to see what they had on and asked about their lack of updating beermenus and basically got no explanation. Until they correct this I won't be going back.

their sandwiches used to be pretty good, but i'm vegetarian and would just get some cheese and vegetable toppings. you would think since they're not putting any meat on it they could put a decent amount of cheese in there. at $10 it was acceptable but now over $12 and they actually seem to be skimping on the cheese even worse, i stopped getting them a while ago.

Just saw that they updated their beermenus page last night for anyone who's interested. Hopefully they'll be updating it regularly like they used to.
