After much anticipation, Bierocracy (12-23 Jackson Avenue, Long Island City, www.bierocracy.com) is about to open its doors to the public on in November 2015. Date TBA.

Designed by a group of Czechs and Slovaks, Bierocracy emulates the relaxed atmosphere of a Central European communal beer hall prized by locals for quality beer and food. Bierocracy will be using unusual Old World methods of tapping beers, providing even the geekiest of beer geeks something they may not be familiar with – the traditional special pours of the Czech republic. These pours include Mliko which produces a milky-white beer foam that eventually settles into a regular pilsner with slight altered flavors; Tvrdá pěna, or hard foam, which produces a cloud of thick, long-lasting foam that sits on top of a lager and requires a special pouring technique to achieve; and the Řezané pivo, or cut beer, made by tapping a dark lager directly on top of a light pilsner, resulting in a stunning, two-toned pint. Carefully selected European imports will be on tap along with interesting local brews, ciders, and radlers (beer mixed with soda).

The menu will be inspired by Central Europe, with downsized dishes made to appeal to modern tastes. The menu will also include some beer pub favorites, such as pretzels and sausages

The 4,000 square foot venue will seat approximately 200 guests and is open Monday through Wednesday 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.; Thursday 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.; Friday and Saturday 3 p.m. to 4 a.m. and Sunday 3 p.m.to 1 a.m.Bierocracy is easily reachable by the No. 7 (Jackson Avenue – Vernon Boulevard stop), E, or M trains (Court House Sq. stop).
