Tracking it is a bit of an issue, but I think most times, a bad trader thread is started. You just have to be diligent.

I can say that I've entered BIFs and then alerted the organizer of a potential bad trader amongst "us." If it's flat out blatant (such as a known bad trader is simply allowed to join), I'll back out. Just because there's a mechanism in place to help out, we still should be as diligent as BIFfers as we are as traders.

I know @Damian74Shensky can add to this, but I've run a good number of BIFs that are sports related and I have only once had a person not send. It's key that the person who runs it keeps track of shipments and receipts so they know who didn't ship. Then a bad trader thread should be started, most of the time that resolves the issue.

To add to @jshusc point, I've made some great relationships with people through this and would be so much happier trading with them then anyone in the trader forum. There is a reason we call that the viper pit.

Agree. Just can't help it sometimes. People don't Send they don't send. Nothing you can really do about it. I know a lot of guys on here help out the person that got beat. When I first started here a few guys @marine1975 @johnyb @hokiechef @CarolinaKevin and I'm sorry I can't remember the other Ba? I got beat on first bif and they stepped up and broke my porch! I promised myself not to take charity again. Don't get this wrong I greatly appreciated it, but it's not there fault dude flaked. So now on if it happens to me it happens. It just does sometimes. To each his own too, if people help out someone and they take it good for them. I just chose not to.

Do you mean you have spotted a problem trader who was approved by the person running the BIF? Or did you notice this person early, in the thread asking for people to join, before the vetting process?

I entered a BIF. Before it began, another entrant became the subject of a bad trader thread. While the BIF carried on, the bad trader thread ultimately proved condemning to the entrant and resulted in a full ban. The organizer had a contingency plan in place and the BIF carried on without a hitch.

So I am drafting a potential BIF and one of the things that I thought of was as the organizer that I would send a trade request to all participants and they would have to accept the request before officially being part of the BIF. Once they have fulfilled their BIF obligations, I would then leave generic feedback such as, "Participated in XXXXX BIF". It seems like the organizer should be tracking shipments anyways, so this is just another step. Unfortunately this would not work with some of the fantasy sports BIFs that last longer than three months.

That's not a bad idea, although it COULD be a pain in the ass for the organizer. In the Locals, some folks requested trade feedback from their target; the problem is that's all after the fact and a guy who screwed someone wouldn't request feedback. It would work if each target sent a request to his sender, the problem there is that the targets don't know their senders ahead of time.
