Can someone please explain to me the mechanics of a BIF? It seems to me like the original post is always talking about something that already happened, as if everyone already knows who is involved and who their target is. I wanna get in on one but I don't understand them. Thanks.

Most BIFS happen in 2 waves - the original sign up period, and then the thread that follows the BIF once its set up. Sounds like you're seeing more of the second, and not the first. If you want to get in one, look for a Noob BIF when its starting up, and throw your name in the ring.

BIFs are usually about generosity. It does not appear you would be interested based on your deleted trade threads.

A key thing to look for is the phrase "NBO" which indicates a new BIF/signup.

Yes, please read Alewatcher's blog. It covers the basics of BIFs pretty well.

You need to wait for an NBO - New BIF Offering. Also, BIFS tend to run at different "levels" - beginner, intermediate, advanced, etc. For your first one, particularly being new on the site, you definitely want to look for a beginner BIF - usually these are designated as for "noobs" or "locals". Once you've proven you know how to send a good box in a beginner BIF, you can be accepted into the more advanced ones.
