Per a newsletter I got in my email Thursday, Peter (owner) is putting the brewery up for sale and the Climb Hard Cidery he started will move out of the tasting room that is connected to the brewery taproom. He's going to concentrate on Climb Hard Ciders, focusing on production and not a tasting room. He's saying that ideally the new owner will fully leverage both tasting rooms with 100% beer, offering beer in the tasting room formerly occupied by the cidery. He's hoping to find a new owner by the end of the year..... Haven't stopped by there in quite awhile as it's a bit of a trek from Arvada but I remember them being pretty tasty....
Once was enough for me considering Loveland also has Grimm Broahs, Verboten, Loveland Aleworks, etc Their beer is okay, but I couldn’t get into their schtick... its equivalent to the same reason why I don’t wear Coed Naked or Big Johnson clothing. Really stupid imo
Yeah, the beer was not bad. I refused to visit them for years because I was turned off by the whole naming thing. The beer names and artwork were cringey. And as MBP mentioned, there's 3 fantastic breweries in Loveland more worthy of my time. It's also a 10-15 minute drive from the "hot" parts of Loveland, so that's not ideal.
I went in there a few years after they opened and it was pure band-aid/infection phenols on every beer. The menu referred to everything as "Belgium Wit" or "Belgium Tripel," I have heard that they eventually sorted it out though. During that same visit, a man with no shoes or socks, and camouflage shorts and jacket over a confederate flag t-shirt came by to fill his growlers. Very clear I was not the target clientele of the place, so between that, the juvenile sense of humor, and Peter himself calling GABF a "Frat Party" in the local paper, I never set foot back inside. I hope he finds success in the cider business - I don't think beer was his thing.
They aren't bad; a brewery doesn't have to knock my socks off for me to support them (ABC was one). However, if after, say, three or four tries (Beer By Design) and I still don't like ya, forget it. Hell, as inconsistent that Blicks was back in the day (gushers, short fills), Misty was pretty tasty. Big Beaver/Loveland just too far to go to "let's go have a beer".
