    Hey folks!

A fantastic brewery that I've had a chance to peek at is Crooked Current in Pawtucket.

The spot is miniscule - if you could squish in 25 people, I'd be shocked. Also, Pawtucket isn't exactly a stellar neighborhood. Don't let that deter you though!

The maple pumpkin ale is, in my opinion, fantastic. I'm growing accustomed to beers that promise maple but never deliver - this absolutely let it mingle with the pumpkin flavors in a good fall beer.

The oatmeal raisin cookie stout? What magic brewed this sauce?! Truth in advertising, here - it's a cookie in a glass.

Hawaiian coconut porters? Neopolitan browns? Some-sorta-IPA I ignored? Check, check, double check. I love diversity at a brewery - they are working it!

Anyhow, little Rhody doesn't often get the love it deserves. Just thought I'd toss these guys out there for your consideration!

Thank you for the mention of this company! They aren't all that far away from me so this could be an excellent day trip for me and oatmeal raisin is the best cookie. After I draw the line from that to beer it sounds very enjoyable.

Crooked Current does have a very specific style, that is for sure (call it Yankee Candle beers if you want... I do). That being said, they tend to do them quite well. Nichole (the brewer) seems to know how to handle these beers and has made a nice niche for herself and the brewery. The Hawaiian porter was really a great one. Some of the others I am less of a fan of but all in all, they hit a spot and they hit it nicely.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep my eyes peeled for them --I had recently felt like RI was sort of missing the boat especially where Connecticut has really emerged onto the scene with some great new-ish breweries in the last few years--but there was another one from RI-- South Kingstown I believe that I tried a great beer from recently and the name of the brewery escapes me.

Oh no, we still lag WAY behind the rest of New England for sure. We're better than we used to be but definitely have a long way to go. The one you are thinking of is probably Proclamation which I like for their hoppy beers but am still not sold on the sours (no subtleties at all and just mouth puckering sourness which isn't what I go for on AWAs).
