This is my first post after much lurking. I live about 10 minutes from the brewery's taproom. They have a pretty large distribution area west of the Mississippi river. I'm curious, what do you think about Big Sky Brewing as a whole? They have BA Ivan the Terrible in the "Top 250" but there's not too much talk about it. Also, of the beers you had from them, which of them did you like/dislike and why?

Like: Older bottles of Ivan the Terrible (I had a 2009 in 2012 and it was outstanding).

Dislike: Pretty much everything else, all of their regular ans seasonal lineups are middle of the road at best.

I've been eyeing up brews like Trout Slayer, Big Sky IPA, and Moose Drool for the better part of two years, but have yet to pull the trigger. Perhaps I will sometime soon. I remember looking over Green Flash beers for well over a year, then one day I finally ended up buying West Coast IPA out of curiosity. I loved it. Since then, I have bought every GF offering that has been made available to me.

Ivan the Terrible and Olde Bluehair are fantastic. I also like Moose Drool.

The IPA intrigues me, solely because it comes in a can and we've been out of Modus around here for weeks!

I like their Moose Drool. I've tried a couple of their other offerings but wasn't blown away by anything.

Moose Drool isn't bad, I would be interested in trying more from them.

I've enjoyed Moose Drool for some time now. Also, a little partial to Powder Hound.

They haven't had any release that I could only find if I chased around the delivery truck, or if I traded beers that I could only get if I chased around the delivery truck, so obviously the suck mega ballz.

Was lucky enough to try a lot of their stuff fresh when I lived in Colorado, loved them almost across the board. Since then (09), not sure if it is quality, or they just have over distributed. I see a lot of dusty bottles in Oklahoma & Missouri when I'm out beer hunting.

Do not like Slow Elk or Trout Slayer

i loved slow elk. always wanted to try bobo's porter and cowboy coffee porter. If your in Missoula, i'd go to KettleHouse or Draughtworks first though.

Ivan and Olde Bluehair, plus I think I got an older vintage of Biere De Noël which surprised me. All are big beers that don't fuck around. Plus I just like the idea of a really good brewery in Missoula, I love Montana and would probably live there if it weren't for (a) winter and (b) not so many jobs for English majors.

Cowboy Coffee is amazing, and I've been waiting on Bobo's to come out in a few months.

Moose Drool is to Big Sky, what Fat Tire is to New Belgian. It is their flagship, but also probably their weakest beer. I have been surprised at how good many of their releases are after having Moose Drool as the introduction beer for so long. Are they in my top ten or even top twenty breweries in the US; no, but I think that they do a respectable job. Also, I have heard that their merch (shirts, jackets, etc.) are all on top line clothing. Not sure if that is still true, but I give some props out to breweries that do that versus cheap emo shirts.

I'm from Missoula. I graduated from Hellgate... I still have family there yet somehow I don't have a Montana trading partner (everyone I grew up with lives in Portland now). Do you have any interest in Florida beers?... I'd love to have both porters and some cold smoke.

The Ipa is definitely their best year round beer. I can get 4 free 6oz samples any day I want, and it still doesn't get old. It's the only beer i really pay for. Plus, it's in a can.

I have to agree. Almost all of their beers are better than Moose Drool.

Moose Drool is my go-to brown ale. I haven't gotten sick of it since I first tried it years ago for its quaint label. Beyond that, their darker stuff tends to be stronger than their lighter offerings, with the porters really surprising me.

Big Sky has been distributing to Mn for many years. Personally, I'm a big fan. Their core line is super solid. IPA is my special lady friends all time favourite, the brown is super solid. I'm not big on super secret barrel aged bollocks blah, blah, blah. I like beer, and Big Sky gets lots o love from me. Love the cans as well
