    Background:
So a buddy of mine is putting on his annual what he calls as "Man Holiday," no wives, for the NCAA tournament, which consist of a four day party, Thursday through Sunday for the first round of the dance. I'm only making the Saturday. My buddy is a top shelve kinda guy when it comes to liquor and his worldly travels supports him getting both some very good and exotic liquor.

    Executive Summary:
Thinking about doing a big stout tasting with the below options from the cellar. What would be a good mix? How many should I offer up, 4, 5, 6, more?

    List:
    Avery - Mephistopheles' 2010
    Avery - Mephistopheles' 2011
    Central waters - BBS 2011
Central waters - Fourteen Fourteen 2012
Central waters - Peruvian Morning 2012
    Founders - KBS 2010
    Founders - KBS 2011
    Founders - Imperial Stout 2011
    Founders - Curmudgeon's Better Half
Goose Island - Night Stalker 2011
Goose Island - Big John 2011
    Goose Island - BCBS 2011
    Goose Island - BCBCS 2012
    Southern Tier - Choklat 2011

    Thanks,
    Jason

Should be a good size party. However, only 6 to 8 interested in the tasting.

you never know how many people will be able to hang with the bigger stout. i'm not very familiar with the rest of your list, but you gotta be a special kind of guy to enjoy mephestopheles. i'd bring a few of the more mellow choices and maybe two big ones. that way you don't pop that 2010 and wind up having to drink it all yourself. but then again that may be exactly what you should do. mmmmmm....

If it's mainly a fine liquors party, then I suggest showcasing how well liquor can taste in beer by only bringing the bourbon-aged selections.

That's what I was thinking...since there's gonna be 6-8 people and a few of those bottles are 12oz bottles, you should be able to do all of the beers...question is, are the others bringing beer too? If so, which ones? If you're the only one bringing beer, I'd bring 7 beers our you're choice...that's half of your list, 14 beers is alot for 1 person to bring while 8 people drink...Fuck that madness, reminds me of Snoop "everybody's got their cup but they ain't chipped in"

    Cheers!

So maybe something like this to showcase the bourbon?

    Central Waters - BBS 2011
    Central Waters - Fourteen Fourteen
Central Waters - Peruvian Morning 2012
Central Waters - BB Barleywine 2012 (added even thou not a stout)
    Founders - KBS
    Goose Island - BCBS 2011
    Goose Island - BCBCS 2012

    Thanks,
    Jason

As far as the number of bottles, that depends how many people will be there. I would bring the following six bottles:

    FIS
    BCBS 2011
    Mephistopheles 2010
    CW BBS
    Night Stalker
    KBS

It would be cool to do all the coffees together, as well.

I'd remove the 2012 BCBCS because the coffee overwhelms the bourbon character at this time...

You might consider Curmudgeon's Better Half, even though that is another BB Barleywine. All stouts can be a pretty dominating lineup.

Better half is an old ale.

I think I've got to go with 1414. Just been really itching to pop a bottle. So maybe your list trade 1414 for coffee. Plus I've got a number of all the 12 oz bottle, 4 of 1414, but only one of the other bombers.

I'd bring all of them. That's not that much beer unless you plan on drinking top shelve also.

Don't think I want to kill that much of the cellar on one hit.

    what about something like this:
    Avery - Mephistopheles' 2010
    Founders - KBS 2011
    Goose Island - BCBS 2011
    Southern Tier - Choklat 2011
Central waters - Peruvian Morning 2012

Kinda showcases what a stout can do.
