Can't believe this has not been mentioned yet. Tons of raisin flavor. Also super boozy unless its a few years old.

Actually just bought a 2017 bottle last weekend, but left it at my lady's parents' house. Ugh!

Expedition is the beginning and end of the list. Just had one last night (a '15). The notes of dark fruit are off the charts. My favorite RIS by far.

Perfect. No go back there in 2021 and it will be ready to drink.

Not a stout but try and find DFH Raison d'etre or Raison d' extra. It is a brown ale but loads of raison flavor. D'extra is one of my all time favorite slow sippers

I totally agree. I've read a ton of reviews on it, and no one had the experience I did. I also did not dog the beer, or post a negative review.

I was in the liquor store where I purchased it, and had my eyes on a single can, just to prove it all out.. but unfortunately, got sidetracked with a guy who worked there, and totally forgot about it (plus I purchased other beers). I'll get back there this week and grab a single.

I recently had a Lion Stout, and I got dark fruits especially from the aroma (perhaps, prune). I think it has some age on it (the dating system is not easiest to decipher). To me, although it certainly looks and has the mouth-feel of a stout, it smelled and tasted more like a Belgian Dark Strong than an Export Stout.

I'll chime in with another vote for Bell's Expedition stout and @TongoRad is on the money with the Courage recommendation.

I haven't had one in many years, but I remember always getting a lot of dark fruit from Avery The Czar.

Also, Ten Fidy. This is one that always surprises me because I wouldn't have said Ten Fidy has many dark fruit notes going from memory, but twice now I have had some blind stout tastings and I always note "dark fruit" when I am tasting the Ten Fidy pour.

Sunday Morning Stout fits that bill. Almost to a fault.

This is more what I'm thinking of as well when looking for dark fruit flavors in a big beer (non Belgian).

I've had many of the stouts people are mentioning on here, and I honestly can't recall ever picking up dark fruit notes. Roast, coffee, chocolate,, bitter hops, bourbon, sometimes licorice flavors in a stout, but never the dark fruit notes like you'd typically get in a Belgian quad for example. Maybe my stout-pallet isn't as advanced as others I guess.

Devil's Backbone Outpost looks to have brewed quite a bit with raisins recently, though not necessarily stouts. A week ago they had a raisin barleywine on tap(Beyond All Raisins)... a few months ago when I sampled the "raisin on tap", it reminded me a lot of plum wine.

MILF is very raisin forward. From the bottle description, "Brewed with cocoa nibs and raisins and then lovingly aged in rum, sherry, bourbon, brandy and whiskey barrels."

Another vote for Ten Fidy, especially with a bit of age on it.

This thread title just led to a search for raisin saisons

OP is in PA, what do you think about Weyerbacher TINY fitting this description? BSDA-stout hybrids tend to check this box for me.

A lot of roasty mentions in here. Sms or ten fidy, while great are not the fruit forward stout that darkness is.

I think blackout stout has the closest similarities mentioned

Just what I was thinking. Very dark fruit-forward. A great beer.

I remember Thirsty Dog Siberian Night being roasty with dark fruit undertones.
Otherwise, +1 on Bells Expedition, Founders Imperial Stout, Ten Fidy, World Wide Stout.
For my taste, BCBS is tough to beat.

This would be exactly opposite of what the OP wants. Expedition is crazy bitter and roasty
