I just wanted to show some love to SN for making such a product. I'm currently drinking my first ever bigfoot and well.....it's amazing. I could see why people age this and I bet it's frickin' spectacular after a few years too due to this massive hop afterbite...but's it's awesome now and a good price for such a big beer. Word I hear is they are switching to 4 packs; not a problem for me. I will buy this every year until I'm 6 feet under. Now only if they had a BA bigfoot....
Thanks for reading and hope you all enjoy this as much as I do!
    Cheers, Tom

Ya, 2012 was my first Bigfoot experience as well. I think the alcohol is the only offputting thing about it. I drank mine pretty fresh though. I have one in the "cellar". Looking forward to it in 6 mo or so.
What's a good aging time to try it?

I'll let you know what it's like with a few years on it on Sunday. Going to a friend's house on Saturday to do a 6 year vertical tasting.

Bigfoot was my intro to good beer back in 2003 or so. It blew my mind that somebody made a beer with that much flavor (had been drinking Natty and Beast for a few years in college). Ha, I remember sitting there taking an hour to drink a bottle and thinking, "WTF? How can I not drink beer like water? This is ridiculous!" I'm not so in to the fresh BF these days, but a few years and its the money.

Oh...BB Bigfoot sounds awesome. The 6 pack I bought was $15.99 .....but I is still an amazing barleywine!

    Cheers!

My first time was a few days ago too. I think the intense bitterness kept it from shining but there's definitely a diamond in the rough.

One thing I've noticed is the biggest verticals I've seen people post (besides Thomas Hardy) is bigfoot. I do agree with MattSweatShirt that it is a little hot on the alcohol, but I could totally see that mellowing out after some time. I do wonder what the "sweet spot" for it is though. Putting 4 in the cellar for sure!

14.99 for the 6er. I'm totally content with paying that though! It has to be the best SN beer I've ever had...

It's $10.99 around Seattle and it's so good that I picked up 2 sixers of it just so I could age lots of it.

Hmmm, I have had one sitting in the fridge for a few days. Waiting to buy a sixer of it till I try the one I have. I'll have to do that before they are gone!

For an afforable, everyday BW... yeah, Big Foot is really good! But lets not get crazy... it's not a topnotch contender. I'd rather have ST Backburner, GD Old Ruffian, Brooklyn Monster, Weyerbacher Blithering Idiot, Pretty Things Our Finest Regards, Sierra Nevada 30th Ann Jack & Ken's Black Barleywine, Blue Point Old Howling Bastard... should I go on? That's not even naming the countless barrell aged BW's that I'd rather have!
I dig it, I buy it and drink it, but it's just beyond a good barleywine. Nothing magical here!

Can't say i can dissagree with most of your list, but Monster? Was never a fan of Monster.... other than that, I think you have a point.

Founders26 showed me that place in Grandville, I'm trying to think of the name... Pete's or something? Across from Rivertown Mall. I could swear it was cheaper, but I'm not sure. I think I saw it for only a dollar cheaper than that today at "The Crushed Grape" on Knapp street by Knapp's Corner Meijer.
    You had it yet Raymo?
