Before I really got into craft beer, I was perusing the beer store and bought two bottles of Bell's Batch 9000. I guess I thought I should just pick one of the more expensive things I could find, and try it.

Well, I took a sip, and of course hated it because I had no idea what good beer was at the time. I ended up drain-pouring both bottles. Now I cringe every time I see anyone ISO of the trades forum. I mean, it's got a 100 score on BA! What was I thinking?! :grimacing:

Just wondering what your biggest beer mistake is..

About a month ago, one of my local shops got a case of BA Bigfoot and it was on the shelf. I must have gotten there before anybody, because I bought the first one. I figured since it was just on the shelf that maybe it wasn't going to be hard to find.

After I realized how sought after it was for trades I went back to buy a few more. Somebody bought all them all shortly after I left according to the manager. He couldn't believe somebody would want a case at $20/each.

I still don't believe people will drain pour any beer. Different upbringing I guess

Me and a friend of mine were given about 10 120 mins when we were 22. We drank 3 and I still have no idea where the rest went, possibly in the garbage. And to the man above, I drank damn near all of my craft out of the bottle for a few years, no one told me any differently. Life is different now.

Had to drain pour about 5oz of VE 12.12.12, which brings me to my most recent mistake of opening my VE 12.12.12 way too early.

You would purposely drink an obviously skunky beer?

Before I knew much about craft beer, I would browse the liquor stores in MA while on my yearly summer trip to Cape Cod. I would go for what I knew like Dogfish Head 60 min, Magic Hat, etc. when in reality I was probably inches away from various Founders concoctions (which I can't get in FL). D'oh!

Man, I would have rather shotgunned two cans of Beast Ice that had been simmering in the trunk all the livelong day during an early August in Chicago than drink the putrid Nightstalker I de-calcified my drain with last night. That being said, I'll have to try one more...there were past testimonials of the latest batch having some infection.

Started drinking craft beer when I was 20... I mean 21... And I drained poured Palo Santo and Arrogant Bastard In one night.. Took on more than I could handle at that time. Now those are both amazing beers to me.

Drain pouring a beer is cool, if you're a terrorist.

Its always a mistake when you buy a bomber thats probably been sitting on the shelf a long time and you pour it into a glass and its mostly all foamy head. The beer is ruined.

I would have agreed with you until a week ago, when I opened up a 2012 Nightstalker. We didn't dump it, since there were three of us, but there is no chance I would have been able to drink a bomber by myself. Nasty.

I guess you would say it's tantamount to eating a disgusting steak. Why would you waste your time drinking/eating something you find repellling? That in itself makes no sense to me. If you dont like it, get rid of it.
