Recently opened a '97 triple bock... Apparently 15+ years of bottle aging = beer eating away at the bottle lining. It was like looking in an old paint can when we looked inside. LOL!

They are made with Brett. Brettanomyces Lambicus is airborne there.

Lived in NE Illinois for 10 yrs close enough to Wisconsin and Indiana. Knew about Honkers, 312, and a few other GI. But never tried Bells, New Glarus, 3 floyds, great lakes, and other great craft beer. If fact I go back every year over the past 6 years for a fantasy football draft. Still no clue till last year. Had a Fat Tire in can on a golf course last year. Lets just say this year one suitcase will be dedicated to beer. Also my 1st BCBS was in Mass 3 to 5 yrs ago did not know it was GI until polishing it off

Thank you. I'm not a wealthy man, but I've fed better parts of some bombers to the septic gods without regret. I just take good notes so I don't end up repeating myself.

I bought some Finch's Secret Stache Stout a few weeks ago and ended up hating it. Luckily, I got it from Whole Foods so I went back the next day and exchanged it for something good.

My biggest regret is waiting years to really investigate craft beer. I knew Goose Island and Founders and DFH and other bigger non-BMC breweries but didn't really understand the depth of the scene until a couple years ago, when I fell in love with Founders RIS and wondered why I couldn't find it after it had been out for a couple of months. I had no idea that seasonal or limited releases were a thing. And it was only last year that I remembered the internet existed and wondered whether there were any sites about craft beer.

Living in Chicago for years and not drinking enough of or stocking up on BCBS. I wasn't into stouts then. I do have a 2009, but I could have had waaaay more.

Also when I was getting back into craft beer after dabbling in the 90s, not understanding the Cantillon I drank. I thought there was something wrong with it.

When I was getting into good beer (but before I joined this site), I printed off a list of the top 100 and walked to my local beer store to try to find as many as I could. This was back when Bourbon County Stout was distributed to Colorado. I remember seeing bombers of Bourbon County and picking one up.

I tasted it that night with my mother. We both drank it like you'd drink Heineken - big sips. We decided it was way too heavy and alcoholic, and we didn't finish it.

Now I'd run over my grandmother for a bomber of Bourbon County.

I traded a BCBS Rare for a box of DFH stuff when it first came out. I was happy to hook up a regular trader, but three years later and its still my number one want and lacking a tick....

    I'm pretty mistake-prone:

    In not purchasing:
Not getting my three BA Batch 9000's when I was at Bell's the weekend they were released, just couldn't do it at the time for $26.50 per. Really regretted it for about 2 days when I remembered my wife, who was in the car while I was in the general store, could also have bought three for me, at which point I wanted to commit suicide. Probably the best beer I've ever had.

    In purchasing:
Buying about 4 cases of Great Lakes Christmas Ale when I was really into winter beers a few years ago. One of them was from a bad batch and had a crazy amount of sediment and off flavors from the ginger. Still have a case left. Great Lakes is still one of may favorite breweries but I think their Christmas Ale will never taste like it did to me before that winter.

    In drinking:
At Two Brothers Tap House, going pretty overboard on the Cane & Ebel. That beer, like no other, messes me up pretty bad the next day no matter how many I've had. Just one is a guaranteed massive headache for me.

Haha yeah, #9 always has a place in my heart since it was my bridge into the craft beer world but most of their other seasonal creations are very sub-par. Heart of Darkness would be one of the few exceptions.
