    Interesting.

I ask you a simple question about what you meant by saying

as a response to something I said to someone else.

You have now turned it into an attack on your right to have an opinion and an attempt to get to the bottom of you?

No, I doubt we'll cross paths again, either to share a cold beer or to discuss a topic on here.

You badger. You may not know it, but you do. Be well and have a nice weekend

Brewpubs who list only what's on tap on their website without also having a link to their entire portfolio. I like to see what types of brews they concentrate on, and whatever is currently on tap may not reflect that.

Calling @drtth a badger is quite a compliment. Honey Badgers in particular are smart and vicious.

But I can't collect boring-ass napkins. Or tables, for that matter.

Except in Iowa, where most people aren't too keen on badgers. Go Hawks!

Also, a really selfish and unreasonable pet peeve of mine would be breweries that have extra sticky labels. I don't have enough time to sit there and scrub that shit off for when I'm bottling homebrew!

Once upon a time, the kind of glue that breweries used to affix their labels affected my beer purchasing trends.

    True story.

I should just drink more Lagunitas.

Or lots of European beers. Their labels just float off in hot water.

The widespread use of adjuncts in US brewing was to allow the use of domestic malt which was basically unsuitable for brewing because of its nitrogen content ; adjuncts mopped this up and enabled bright attractive looking beer.

A dictionary definition does not always reflect a specialist meaning. For example, to a brewer liquor is water. You have to remember the context and allow trades to use jargon.

But IPAs are all Pale Ales anyway. That is what the final two letters mean ; beer brewed predominantly from Pale Malt.
Many of the original beers shipped to India were simply labelled Pale Ale.

Brewpubs and craft beer bars that don't have their current tap list on their website. Like, not at all.

Bonus annoyance points if you ask them about it and they reply: "Well, after all we want people to come in here and check it out themselves". That's basically like saying: "Yeah, we know our tap list is crap, so we can't really put it online because then noone would ever come in here".

Extra bonus annoyance points if the same place DOES always have a tap list up for special events like tap takeovers when they know full well that they have a great selection.

To this bit, this response is perfect.

To this bit, however, more explanation is needed. I've never heard of anyone using this definition in reference to beer, nor the second example. They either use the first example that you gave correctly or they use it incorrectly, probably because they don't know what "adjunct" means. They heard it or read it once and misinterpreted it and used it incorrectly ever since.

Whether or not it's considered correct when referring to beer, it is a correct use of the word.

"Grapefruit is my favorite adjunct in beer."

This is absolutely correct based on the definition of adjunct:

a thing added to something else as a supplementary rather than an essential part.

Grapefruit is a supplement rather than an essential part.

It may drive BAs nuts, but it fits the definition.

But when you call said grapefruit beer an "adjunct IPA" or whatever solely based on the grapefruit addition, THAT makes it incorrect.

For the world of beer jargon, yes, I agree that's incorrect.

    Adjunct vs. add-junk.
