    Hello -
The majority of my trades fall into a normal size range; 3 to 12 bottles or so. A previous trade partner has asked if I could ship him 24 12 ounce bottles, which would be the biggest box I've shipped.

Are there any special considerations I should have? Will any normalish looking box be able to handle this weight? I guess that's the only thing that would be a concern for me - a box breaking.

    Any thoughts?

You can consider shipping two boxes - one each with 12 bottles. Overall shipping cost might be higher this way. Certainly an option though.

I've had a huge amount of beer to ship on a couple occasions and ended up splitting it into two boxes. The biggest single boxes I've shipped were 16 12oz bottles in one, 6 bombers and 6 12oz bottles in another. Both were in the 30 lb range. In all cases, I double boxed (box in a box) them to prevent box breakage.

I recently shipped a box of 24 Crooked Stave 375 ml bottles in one box. It was a 24 bottle styro-shipper that he sent to me. It's more tall than it is wide - imagine two 12-bottle styro-shippers stacked on top of each other within the same box.

There aren't any special shipping restrictions - it's just super heavy and very large.

Go to Walmart. Buy a 14x14x14 box and a 16x16x16 box. Pack beer tightly in the 14 box. Put that box in a garbage bag. Put that into the 16 box. Packed tightly with cushioning on all sides. Tape up. Use strapping tape all the way around the box for each side. Apply label. Mail box.

I think the heaviest I've shipped was 54 pounds

Thanks guys. Normally I would consider 2 boxes but this is international so that would be pretty pricy

Double box. 14x14x14 in a 16x16x16 box has allowed me to ship a case of beer in the past. At one point I shipped 12 NG fruit 750s in a box like this, no problems. And NG fruit 750s are heavy as hell.

I think it was 27pounds. Any larger and I would just ship it in 2 pkgs.

Wrong! Correct answer is Olive oil, homemade slasa or preserves, snowglobes or even collectible glassware. :stuck_out_tongue:

Exactly what these 2 gentlemen said. I've done it countless times. I've only had 2 broken bottles and that's because I was in a rush, packing boxes in the garage as quick as I could! (Had to hurry, if the wife would have caught me I probably wouldn't be able to use my thumbs to type this post)!
    Good luck

I am assuming USPS, pay heed to the total number of of square inches and check the country your shipping to, make sure that you are not over their kilo limits. I have actually shipped cases of Heady Topper to a number of European location with no problems.

I received forty 12 oz bottles from Belgium. Don't recall the exact weight but it cost me $99 in shipping.

For me, came in at 45 lbs. I think the outer box was 18x18x18, had several inner boxes.
19 12 oz bottles (mostly BCBS and BCBBW)
6 12 oz cans (local extras)
    1 750 (extra)
    2 22s (TX only stouts)
    1 16oz can (extra)

I went around the outside of the box with probably 100m of packing tape for reinforcement, after inspecting it for any tears, dings, and bulges (always gotta check for those). $2 of tape making that box stronger is worth it.

This likely doesn't apply, but you can fit twenty-four 12 oz cans into a single 12 shipper, though there are some slight changes and tips to follow to keep the cans very safe. But if the beers your international trader wants come in 12 oz cans, it's easy.

    27 pounds isn't even a full standard 12 shippers with 750s.
