Yeah, I grabbed a case of Breakfast Stout for $40 bucks recently at an Atlanta area Total Wine. Just asked the manager what he was going to do with all those cases and made him an offer.

Apparently I need to come visit again...yes, I do. I miss Founders stuff(my supply is all gone, with the exception of 1 lonely Founders IS). I'll be there in October to restock.

I bought a case of Knob Creek (6 to a case) along with numerous other liquor and beer for a party I was having. When I left the store, I noticed that I was priced for 1 bottle at $29 rather than paying ~$180 for it. I went back later and met the cashier and told him the issue and he pulled me aside and told me that it's noble of me to return but that he was basically under performance review and didn't want him to lose his job b/c of this screw up and asked me to not report it. I felt so bad for the person but I didn't bring it up to customer service.

I don't know what I should have done though to ease my conscience. I guess I justified it by saying I took 'more' from a liquor corporation and gave that guy the opportunity to still remain employed....

Indeed, I'm sure I'll put up a "let's meet up for a beer" post in the South Atlantic forum when I'm up. Cheers!

If your conscience is still sticking you, you can just keep in mind the the cost of the hiring, selection, and training of an employee is far more expensive than the 150 dollar deal that you got.

You tried to be honest and the manager still insisted it was $12 for the 4 pack. If that had been me, I would have bought them out. People get one try with me. If they don't believe me when I'm trying to be honest, then I feel as though I have done my part. Oh well, to each their own.

At a whole foods a year or so ago I went to the register with a couple wholefoods/dogfish glasses, a new empty half growler, and a new half growler filled with DFH Palo Santo. The dude couldnt get the glasses to scan, turned them over and looked at the barcode, and then just put them in to my bag. Then he just charged me for two new unfilled growlers. Good people indeed.

A cashier rang up a 6er of cans for a single price one time. i asked him about the price and he shrugs. +1 me.
Fast forward a few months, same store, bought the last 4 pack of Wake n Bake at normal price, they weren't getting any more in so i felt like i won. got home and someone switched out 2 of the wake n bake for hopsecutioner. -1 me.

It all works out in the end.

To the OP, you should've added you bought a keg on craigslist on your way home from the beer store. You think this ruffled some feathers...

For all the times we have overpaid for marginal beer, we deserve a break every now and then.

I recently made a big purchase at a Costco liquor store in preparation for Bonnaroo. When I got to the car, I looked at the receipt and realized the cashier had missed a whole 12 pack of Summit. I went back in and told the clerk what he had missed and the manager was there to scold him for it. In hindsight, I wish I had never gone back in there.

In general, though, I agree that the best answer is to point out the mistake.
